updater's TestSwarmDeployCommands (d92375922d) patched utils.tests.swarm.matrix.run_step, which store-i18n's matrix no longer imports: every step goes through the module's _run(cmd, *, env, label), which wraps the watchdog. After the merge (c9e7f950d9) both tests failed with "does not have the attribute 'run_step'". They now patch matrix._run, as test_run_reporting and test_extend_inventory already do, and keep their assertions: the round deploy (cli.administration.deploy.swarm) and the backup-host deploy (cli.administration.deploy.dedicated) both pass --skip-pull, so the custom roles placed before the round survive. The backup-host test hands _deploy_backup_host a temporary inventory directory, because store-i18n reads and may rewrite host_vars there (drop_backup_network_mode) before it deploys.
