The probe exists only to decide whether 02_reset_root_password.yml runs, but it carried until: rc == 0 with retries: 30 and delay: 5. A wrong password is a settled answer, so the loop waited its full budget and then took the reset branch anyway. It waited longest in exactly the case it exists to detect.

Measured at 169.8s in one Nextcloud job against 0.6s upstream, which matches 30 retries at 5s plus 31 attempts. Exit on Access denied as well, the way the gitlab and homeassistant token probes already exit on REJECTED. A server that is still starting reports a connection failure rather than Access denied, so the budget for genuine unreadiness is untouched.
