A chat engine prefixed the Vietnamese catalog with its own preamble ("...Vietnamese:" followed by a blank line) and wrote Urdu in Devanagari. Neither tripped the damage predicate: vi is Latin script, so the script checks were blind, and untranslated only measures the Latin share, so a non-Latin language answered in another non-Latin script passed.
added_lines refuses a translation that breaks more lines than its source, and the gateway's _mangled carries the same check so such an answer falls through to the next engine instead of being cached. wrong_script refuses a non-Latin language when less than half of the letters it writes in another language's endonym script belong to its own; the script per language is derived from the endonym in meta/languages.yml, and letters are counted over runs of letters plus combining marks so Indic and vocalised Arabic words stay whole.

The repository-ref updater only checked semver refs and skipped commit SHAs, so a role pinned to a commit never received a bump. Discourse pins its launcher and plugins to commits on feature/updater (297f3f4a67) to stop a rebuild on every upstream push, and those pins must keep moving after the merge.
A full 40-hex ref next to a repository, in meta/services.yml or an addon's config, is now compared with the tip of the repository's default branch (git ls-remote <repository> HEAD, one query per repository and run) and rewritten through the same path as a semver ref, so it lands in the usual update/repository-refs PR. Short SHAs and branch names stay skipped, '# nocheck: repository-version' still freezes a pin, and a failed lookup leaves the pin alone. test_version_pins_are_watched counts such pins as watched, and test_semver_pinning no longer warns about them.
The jeff pin of svc-ai-s1 drops its unread 'semver-ref' marker, and bridgy-fed and ltengine drop the repository-version markers that were written to silence the non-semver warning, so all three follow their upstream from now on, as does taiga's oidc plugin.

Lookups render on the controller and read FILE_TOKENS there, while sys-token-store writes the store on STACK_HOST and mirrors it to the controller only in swarm. A compose deploy run from another machine therefore resolved every token empty: on echoserver Friendica rendered an empty SMTP_AUTH_PASS (msmtp: authentication method PLAIN needs a password) and Stalwart minted new bot app passwords on every run.
get_merged_users and the applications carrier key now take the sys_token_store_users fact, which the play reads from the stack host, over the controller file; write.yml refreshes the fact after each write, and 01_load.yml slurps from STACK_HOST so every host reads the store that is written. Without the fact, as in tests and ad-hoc calls, the controller file still applies, and where controller and stack host share the file the merged users are identical.

On a fresh Fedora dev container lint-mermaid failed most files with
ConnectionClosedError: the browser aborted with
`FATAL:third_party/skia/src/ports/SkFontMgr_FontConfigInterface.cpp:163]
Not implemented.` in its font fallback, because the host had no font at
all. install-lint provisions the browser's libraries by soname on dnf,
yum and pacman, and a font is not a soname; apt-get gets fonts through
puppeteer's --install-deps.
It looked load-dependent because lint-packages installs rpmlint in the
same parallel phase, which pulls fontconfig and Noto Sans: renders
crashed until that transaction landed, and every later run was green.
With every font removed, lint-mermaid alone fails 274 of 289 files the
same way.
ensure() now installs the distribution's font provide when
/usr/share/fonts holds no file (`font(:lang=en)` on dnf and yum,
`ttf-font` on pacman), and browser_installed() counts the font, so the
install-lint stamp is not fresh on a font-less host.

Five conflicts, resolved by what each side is for rather than by taking a
side:
- sys-service/01_prune.yml and sys-service-terminator/02_unlock.yml take
the incoming single `systemctl` invocation over four module loops. The
unlock side also drops an unmask step: the list it runs on is built with
`reject('search', ' masked')`, so it never held a masked unit and the
step did nothing.
- sys-stk-front-proxy/tasks/main.yml keeps this branch's version. The block
the other side still carries there moved into vhost.yml, which runs it
once per network sibling; taking theirs would have duplicated it.
vhost.yml holds every task of that block, the global injection and the
TLS layer included.
- web-app-matomo/08_reinject_consumers.yml likewise keeps the per-vhost
loop, which re-renders the injection for every network sibling and passes
matomo_token_override.
- utils/cache/domains.py combines both: the incoming side rendered
DOMAIN_PRIMARY with the real templar and variables, which is right, but
added a second renderer beside the module's own. _render_plain now takes
that context optionally, so the other two call sites stay as they were.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
get_merged_domains rendered DOMAIN_PRIMARY with no templar and an empty variable scope. A primary declared as a template, such as echoserver's "{{ SOFTWARE_NAME | lower }}", therefore came out as 'none' inside the applications SPOT, while direct lookups saw the domain Ansible had already resolved. Every SPOT value built through it named file.none, and the dashboard waited for https://file.none/assets/img/logo.png until full-2 failed. The render now gets the templar and the play variables, which also covers services.tor.node.

The cert lookup handed an alias or redirect source the live directory of its app's canonical domain or of its target, so social.cymais.cloud got the infinito.nexus lineage and failed with 'Hostname mismatch'. With the san and dedicated flavors a domain term now resolves to its own live/<domain>, which cert_link_domains points at the lineage that covers it; application terms keep the canonical path. resolve_term follows redirect chains and fails on a cycle.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
build_domain_index fingerprinted the whole applications tree on every call, 77 % of a tls lookup. The index reads only each application's domains, so the cache key now covers exactly those; a tls lookup drops from 8.2 to 3.1 ms.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
With AUTO_BUILD_ALIASES enabled, current_play_redirect_domains adds
<entity>.<DOMAIN_PRIMARY> as a redirect source for every application whose
canonical domain differs. web-opt-rdr-domains then asks the tls and cert
lookups about each source, but resolve_term only knew the domains mapping
and applications[*].domains, so the Keycloak stage on echoserver stopped
with "tls: domain 'funkwhale.infinito.nexus' not found".
redirect_targets() turns CURRENT_PLAY_REDIRECT_DOMAINS into a source to
target map, and resolve_term falls back to it, one hop, only where it
raised before, so every term that resolved keeps its answer. The tls and
cert lookups pass the map.

A looped include that leaves its variable as item inherits whatever a
loop inside the included file binds, so the redirect loop now names
it and the include reads that name. Nothing in the role referred to
item, so the rename reaches every read.
The variants test asked the environment for TMPDIR and substituted
/tmp when it was unset, which is the silent fallback the project
forbids; tempfile.gettempdir() already knows the order to try.

ansible.builtin.apt extracts a deb's control member through the xz
binary rather than through dpkg's own library, and Cursor's deb
compresses that member with xz. On a target without xz-utils the
install failed after the download and the checksum had already
passed, which is the most expensive place to discover a missing
tool.
The deb branch of the download plan now installs it first, the way
build_calls installs its declared depends. The rpm branch is
unaffected.

A vendor that ships a package file but runs no repository left the
registry nothing to resolve, so cursor declared an empty list on Debian
and RedHat and the role deployed while installing nothing.
The new 'download' source names the artefact directly and pins it by
digest: the URL alone would install whatever the vendor serves today.
get_url verifies before and after the transfer, the artefact is cached
root-owned so no other account can swap it in the window before the
install, and a closing package call fails loudly when the artefact
registered under a name other than the one declared.
Cursor's rpm carries no signature, which is why dnf runs with
disable_gpg_check; the digest is the integrity control. All 92 of its
requirements resolve against Fedora 44 and CentOS Stream 10 repodata.

Resolves 68 conflicted files. The governing rule was our structure with their
network semantics: the tor boolean becomes a network mode (clearnet | tor |
multi) throughout the variant layer, while this branch's architecture and mesh
axes, its extracted modules and its i18n content stay.
Where the two sides covered different ground, both are kept rather than one
picked:
- ca_injected answers a ca_client on the deployment's TLS mode OR on an SSO
issuer that resolves self-signed. 3a3e9ed2c9 records why: an issuer is not
an object store, so keeping only one side drops the other's coverage.
- get_merged_domains keeps the loud refusal when svc-net-tor is deployed
without a provisioned node, now gated on their tor_serves_host; their
node_onion_of returns an empty string there, which would have served every
onion-exclusive app on clearnet in silence.
- sso_cookie_domains stays the single source for oauth2-proxy's cookie scope.
Their per-network branch omitted the issuer domain on the onion arm, which
breaks the callback leg.
- The clearnet CSP batch carries --clearnet-timeout again; their batch dict
hardcoded zero while the role still passes the flag.
- The dashboard keeps its i18n content dir, image, version and design
resolution; their side reduced the logo sources to the bare service
provider values.
Their side wins where it is measurably better: the onion mirror rewrite is
gated per vhost rather than per app, the Playwright onion decision reads the
pass's own domain instead of the role's canonical one, and the matomo
reinjection and dashboard config render per network sibling.
Eight files were broken by the merge without ever carrying a conflict marker,
because git marks only the lines both sides touched:
- utils/cache/domains.py lost the onionize block that sat between two hunks
- roles/sys-front-inj-all/templates/body_filter.lua.j2 called it
- web-app-bluesky, keycloak sso_proxy: the get_entity_name filter was renamed
- trigger/__main__.py, playwright_coverage.py and its test: the deleted tor
module
- cli/administration/deploy/ci/timings.py read Label.tor
- plugins/filter/csp_filters.py called _aligned_url with four of six arguments
- tests/unit/python/utils/cache/test_domains.py referenced a renamed class
- tests/.../sys-ctl-hlth-csp/files/test_script.py mocked a function main no
longer calls
Verified: the variant layer (155 tests, 65 subtests), ca_injected (18),
the CI layer (175), the domains cache including the restored guard (32),
retrigger inputs (9), timings and the CSP health script (53). make
quality-high clears autoformat; its remaining findings are tracked separately.

get_variants handed out a deep copy on every call so one caller's
mutation could not reach the next. services_overrides_for_round asks
for the map once per round, and a sweep resolves hundreds of rounds, so
the matrix planner paid that copy 460 times: 78 million deepcopy calls,
and get_variants alone accounting for 82 of the 163 seconds a profiled
build took.
The copy is now opt-out for that one caller. It reads the map and never
writes to it, resolve_pins takes it as a Mapping and has no mutation
site, and _deep_merge deep-copies both of its arguments, so nothing the
round produces keeps a reference into the cache. Fifteen other callers
keep the copy untouched.
Measured end to end on cli.meta.ci.playwright_coverage: 33.7s to 24.6s.
Equivalence is measured against the copying path for two fixed rounds,
291 roles each, rather than against a sweep -- two identical planner
runs assign different modes to some rows, so a plan diff cannot carry
that proof.
The test asserts identity rather than runtime, as the comparable
optimization in 0cb8bae88d did: a wall-clock bound on this machine is
the same flakiness the sweep already shows.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The replay used to be decided by the matrix: utils.roles.guide picked a
variant, instructions.mark wrote a flag, and the workflow appended
web-app-docs to the row's apps. Now each invokable role declares the
guide host in meta/services.yml with bond 0.5 behind the group gate and
switches it on in exactly one variant, and the deploy pulls it in
through that edge. The matrix only reads the declaration back.
web-app-docs was no provider at all: the registry requires shared,
provides or an alias on the role's own entity entry and it had none, so
the 188 declarations would have been decorative. Registering it brings
a structural contract with it -- a dynamically loaded service role must
set its run_once flag as its very first task or load/app.yml includes
it again -- so the role body moves into tasks/00_core.yml and main.yml
becomes the guard.
smallest_variant no longer counts the guide. It picks the variant that
then switches the guide on, which on the next read would make that
variant one service larger and no longer the smallest; without the
exclusion 30 of 188 roles disagreed with the file.
The job title loses the marker. The row is an ordinary deploy of its
variant, so nothing distinguishes it any more -- which is why the unit
test now asserts the label is left alone.
Measured against the previous tree, the sweep marks 68 rows where it
marked 88. Twenty roles declare the guide on a variant this sweep does
not run in the guide's mode, and by decision the declaration is
absolute: the file is the truth and those roles carry no replay in such
a run. The old code instead searched the deployed variants, which hid
the mismatch behind a fallback.
The same measurement found that the predicate first read the group gate
as a declaration -- the gate renders to a non-empty string, so every
variant looked like the declaring one. It now tests for a literal true.
Neither defect showed up in the unit tests, which check the new logic
rather than its difference to the old.

An empty distro entry made package_install return skipped, so the role
deployed and the binary was simply missing. Blender#0 showed the shape:
'blender declare nothing to install on centos', then 'blender
--background' with rc 2 and no output at all.
A flatpak source closes the largest group of those gaps in one
mechanism. It takes application ids, installs the runtime and the
Flathub remote first, and links flatpak.command onto PATH -- without
that link the export is named after the application id, so a role
calling the plain binary still finds nothing and the fix would look
applied while changing nothing.
Roughly fifty entries move across, every id verified against Flathub's
appstream API rather than guessed; four candidates were wrong and did
not survive that check. The external probe now asks Flathub for a
flatpak entry instead of the distribution index, so the same
verification runs on every sweep.
jrnl and msi-perkeyrgb have no package anywhere and install from PyPI
instead: the task registers package_install and falls back to
sys-pip-install only 'when: ... is skipped', which keeps the registry
the single source of the per-distro decision rather than copying it
into the role.
The entries that legitimately install nothing keep their nocheck and
lose the deferral: the myhostname module ships inside systemd, the
kernel server inside nfs-utils, wine carries its own mono and gecko. A
new rule holds that line -- a justification may explain why nothing is
installed, but may no longer park the install behind a TODO. Twelve
gaps still fail it and stay red until each has a mechanism.

Conflicts resolved:
- Dockerfile: keep HEAD; filesystem.sh already runs at line 37 and pin_epel()
arrived inside centos_mirror.sh, so main's hunk would have run it twice.
- peertube 02_fix-application-schema.yml: take main's task name, its
expect_rows: true (matching the first query in the same file) and its when:
without default(); keep HEAD's changed_when: true, which the notify:
compose-up depends on.
- peertube check-application/defaults.sql: take main's information_schema
query; HEAD's ::regclass cast raises instead of returning no rows when the
table is absent.

pull.yml pulls, on the target host, every pinned image of the applications the host deploys, the same closure the update check judges, and lists the images a role builds itself instead. It never touches a container, retries each pull a bounded number of times and fails loudly with the image and the registry error. The update_check filter moves next to the new update_pull filter into plugins/filter/update/, and both read the code pins from one helper.

Three docstrings from #1173 claimed that ensure() leaves only the pinned
release on PATH or replaces whatever version PATH finds. It does neither:
it installs the release into /usr/local/bin and fails unless PATH then
resolves to it, so a distribution copy such as /usr/bin/shfmt stays on
disk behind it.
The test module and ensure() lose their docstrings; the module docstring
of the installer returns to the form its siblings use ("Install hadolint
via GitHub-release prebuilt binary.").
Reported by CodeRabbit on #1173.

`shfmt.ensure()` returned as soon as any `shfmt` was on PATH and tried
the distribution package before the release pinned in
roles/sys-lint/meta/services.yml. The Debian dev container therefore
formats with its packaged 3.8.0 (/usr/bin/shfmt), Fedora with its packaged
3.7.0, the CentOS one with the pinned v3.14.1 (/usr/local/bin/shfmt), and
they disagree on
scripts/tests/deploy/swarm/utils/unmount/nfs_mounts.sh: every gate in a
CentOS stack moved the `then` of the heredoc `if` below the terminator.
ensure() now follows ruff's installer: it reads `shfmt --version`, keeps
the binary only when it reports the pinned release, and otherwise installs
the release binary into /usr/local/bin. It fails when PATH still resolves
another version afterwards instead of formatting with it. The system
package path is gone.
nfs_mounts.sh is committed in the pinned release's format (byte-identical
to the v3.14.1 output from the CentOS container), so the first gate on any
distro leaves the tree clean.
The install-lint stamp now also depends on roles/sys-lint/meta/services.yml,
the pin file of actionlint, hadolint and shfmt, so a bumped pin reaches
environments whose stamp predates it; until now only pyproject.toml and
scripts/install/lint.sh invalidated it.

02_provision_inventory.sh copies the manager's host_vars to every node,
the backup host included, so a row with network=multi handed bkp-01
NETWORK_MODE=multi as well. The backup host is deployed from its own
backup.yml, which has no svc-swarm-node group and no Tor provider, so
tor_serves_host is false there and resolve_node_mode raised at the first
tls lookup: "NETWORK_MODE 'multi' needs svc-net-tor with a node onion on
this node" (01_constructor.yml, pixelfed swarm drill on the multi axis,
after a green deploy round and Playwright pass).
extend_inventory already prepares the backup host's own inventory after
the copy; it now also drops NETWORK_MODE from that host's host_vars, so
the backup host derives clearnet as a host without Tor does. The
remote-2-local pull reaches the manager over SSH and needs no onion.
Rows on clearnet or without a mode resolve as before; only the tor and
multi rows, which raised, change.

Without a swarm manager the mesh planner only built full meshes, whose
handshake gate waits for every peer, so laptops behind NAT could not join.
An inventory may now name a hub in networks.hub: the planner builds every
declared mesh around it, the hub forwards between its spokes, a spoke marked
networks.roaming gets no endpoint in the hub's peer list and dials the hub
with PersistentKeepalive, and the hub's gate skips roaming spokes while a
roaming spoke gates only on the hub. The mesh CLI takes the hub's public
address per host (--endpoint) and a vault password per host
(--host-vault-password-file). Full meshes and the swarm manager hub plan
exactly as before; NETWORK_MESH_POOL keeps the operator's subnet.

7e82ba6d71 moved web-app-bigbluebutton's bbb-pads to v1.5.11, the tag
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bigbluebutton/docker/develop/repos/tags
names for the bbb-pads source. alangecker/bbb-docker-pads has no such
image (Docker Hub: newest v1.5.8), so every BigBlueButton deploy pulls a
missing tag and test-external fails "These pinned Docker images do not
exist in their registry (HTTP 404): web-app-bigbluebutton/bbb-pads".
bbb-pads goes back to v1.5.8. The version-source updater now knows the
image a `version` pin tags (pulled directly or as the base of a custom
build) and withholds a bump when the registry answers 404 for the new
tag; an indeterminate answer does not block it, the same line
test-external draws. Run against main, the updater now reports no
update for bbb-pads instead of v1.5.11.

A selection token may pin the mesh state as &vpn or &direct, but check_pins
had no arm for it. pinned_vpn_states intersects the pin with the states the
mode allows and only swarm meshes, so a token like @compose+clearnet&vpn left
an empty state list: the row produced no job at all and the run reported green
for a combination that never deployed. That is the outcome _reject exists to
prevent, and every sibling axis already refuses an impossible pin.
The new arm asks whether any candidate mode keeps a state rather than whether
the pin is reachable, so a held vpn axis still overrides the pin instead of
being refused. That behaviour has its own test and is unchanged.
An earlier check was removed with the compose-mesh revert of 2026-10-16
because it rested on meshable() and smallest_variant(), which that revert
deleted. This one reuses pinned_vpn_states, applies to the swarm-only axis the
revert restored, and covers both mesh states instead of only &vpn.
pin_vpn and vpn_mode now reach check_pins from all three callers. The run's
vpn axis reaches the validation job through call-orchestrator and
call-validation, which passed every other axis but this one. The priority
procedure and its skill state all eight axes a token carries, not six:
architecture and mesh were pinnable and, for architecture, already validated,
yet neither was documented.

`tarball_name()` picked the archive from `platform.machine()` alone, so
an end-of-life Node.js on Intel macOS would have unpacked a Linux build
into /usr/local, Homebrew's prefix there. The upstream install now
supports Linux only and stops with a message to install a supported
Node.js through the package manager everywhere else.

Debian trixie ships nodejs 20.19, whose release line reached its end of
life on 2026-04-30. `@mermaid-js/mermaid-cli` 12 and its puppeteer
declare `node >=22.13.0`, so `make install-lint` failed in every fresh
Debian stack container with `All providers failed for
chrome-headless-shell` (#1088).
`ensure_node_present()` still installs the distro package first, then
reads the release line of `node` on PATH and looks it up in the
nodejs/Release schedule. A line past its `end` date is replaced by the
newest LTS from nodejs.org/dist/index.json: SHASUMS256.txt is verified
with gpgv against the active Node.js release keys from
nodejs/release-keys, the tarball against its SHA-256 entry, and the
release is unpacked into /usr/local, after which `node` on PATH must be
that release. Nothing pins a major: the next LTS line is picked up the
same way. Ubuntu 26.04's Node.js 22, supported until 2027-04-30, stays.
`ensure_npm_present()` calls it first, so a container that already holds
the end-of-life node is upgraded too rather than skipped because npm
exists. The call runs once per process.

The gateway routes every request on its own, so a catalog holds the work of several engines, while the mark apply() wrote was the constant translated-by: libretranslate and attributed all of it to one backend. The catalogs on disk show the drift: 1021537 entries carry that constant and 13 carry ollama, written once the gateway began answering from more than one place.
The constant becomes machine_translation(engine), which names what the gateway reported and writes unnamed where it reported nothing, plus is_machine_translation(), which recognises any of them by prefix so every mark already on disk keeps matching. Outcome carries an engines tuple aligned with its values, merge pads it, and _reask returns the name alongside the text: a successful re-ask records the engine that answered, not the one whose rejection it replaced, because the catalog does not carry that rejected text.
apply() now strips an earlier mark before stamping the current one. clear() removes only refusal prefixes, so an entry re-translated after i18n-prune would otherwise accumulate one mark per engine and the record would be ambiguous again, which is the defect this change exists to remove.
This is the half that makes the attribution true. Recording latency in the decider history is the other half; together they let the router weigh quality against speed per engine, which a catalog claiming one engine everywhere cannot support.

A link whose label is its own target's filename is a path, not prose: [11_oidc.yml](../../group_vars/all/11_oidc.yml) comes back with a translated filename. The markup rule lets it through because the extension contributes letters, so it needs its own shape. A label that says something about the target keeps its translation, which is what separates it from [the OIDC defaults](../../group_vars/all/11_oidc.yml).
A message that is one technical token reads the same everywhere: an abbreviation in capitals, a version, or a run of command-line options. Together with the link rule this withholds 102 messages the catalogs used to send, 34 tokens and 68 changelog links, every one of them read before it landed here.
Known limit: ABBREVIATION matches any capitalised word of three or more characters, so it reaches messages that do not exist yet. MUST, TODO and TODOS are already words rather than abbreviations, and a future UI label like ERROR would be withheld the same way. The failure mode is silent, since a wrongly withheld message simply stays English without any test going red. Narrowing it to tokens the repository also uses as identifiers is the open follow-up.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
untranslated() asks what share of a translation's words are Latin. WORDS matched runs of letters, and Han, Kana, Thai, Lao, Khmer and Myanmar write without separators, so a whole sentence came back as one token. Two Latin product names inside it carried that token's latin_share past a half, which made the ratio 1.0 and condemned a sound translation.
Measured on a Japanese rendering of "Runs Playwright in Docker with stable browser settings": one token, latin_share 0.516, ratio 1.00 against a threshold of 0.9. The six-word floor removed in 27d59f4bd4 had hidden this, because a separator-less script never reaches six words; dropping it as vacuous missed that it was the only guard those scripts had.
WORDS now takes one character of such a script as one word, with the single-character branch first so the run branch cannot swallow the sentence again. Ten real entries against both patterns: the old one errs on two, the new one on none, and every true positive survives, including Cyrillic welds like CI Деbugging and an English answer in a Japanese catalog.
The ranges are codepoints because a formatter rewrites an escape into the character it names, and the resulting literal blob cannot be reviewed.

The project licence governs this repository's code and says nothing about the application a role installs, which is where a restriction on commercial use usually sits: a deployment cleared to use Infinito.Nexus commercially is still barred from NLLB-200's CC BY-NC weights.
Each invokable role names its licence in meta/<role>/license.yml with the url it was read from. The rights of a named licence live once in meta/licenses.yml, fifteen fields following the taxonomy choosealicense publishes. AND folds to the strictest combination, OR keeps the most favourable whole licence, and the seven contexts are derived from the rights rather than declared, so a heading cannot contradict the matrix under it.
The generated page renders one matrix per context, a lint refuses a role that declares nothing, and a Playwright spec asserts the page against the deployed docs. 21 of 22 deprecated SPDX ids were resolved against the upstream text; EPSON's remains unread because its AUR page blocks automated access.

A deploy job name repeats the category path on every row of the matrix. One Egyptian hieroglyph costs four UTF-8 bytes where the two Chinese characters it replaces cost six. Unicode names each sign by its Gardiner code, so the opaque value stays identifiable without a comment per entry.
A label has to stay one codepoint: a sign written with a variation selector costs seven bytes and is worse than what it replaced. tests/integration/meta/categories/test_glyph.py enforces that.

- Declare `__all__` in every package `__init__.py` whose `PROJECT_ROOT`
is imported by its modules (163 packages), so the constant counts as
exported; list every public name where the package defines more.
- Empty the 15 package `__init__.py` files whose `PROJECT_ROOT` no module
imports.
- Declare the public API of `utils.github.variant.axes` in `__all__`,
re-exports included, instead of silencing them with `noqa: F401`; the
list matches the one `feature/store-i18n` already carries.
- Use `import unittest.mock as mock` in `test_applications.py`, as the
rest of the suite does.
- Spell `_NON_PRINTABLE` in `utils/yaml_bootstrap.py` as the equivalent
BMP-only positive class; it matches exactly the same 2111 code points
as the old negated class across U+0000..U+10FFFF.

27d59f4bd4 caught a non-Latin target answered in Latin letters. Its
mirror was missing, so the model answering a language it cannot write
with one it can passed every criterion:
ch 'AI Services' -> '人工智能服务' Chamorro, answered in Han
tr 'Sales' -> 'إدارة'
ae (76 entries) -> Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Chinese
Chamorro writes in the Latin script and lives on Guam; the code 'ch'
reads as Chinese to a model that does not know the language, which is
how the whole catalog came back in Mandarin.
Measured over the 121 Latin-script catalogs before the rule was
written: 79 entries condemned, 76 of them in ae and 3 in tr. All three
Turkish ones were read individually and none is a false positive; two
are an Arabic fragment with a markdown rule and one is English plus
Bengali repeated four times.
Its own criterion rather than an arm of untranslated(): the catalogs
record the reason on the entry, and 'answered in another script' is a
different diagnosis from 'came back untranslated'. The two together
cover the script dimension for all 184 languages.
What it still cannot see: Spanish served as Corsican. Telling two
Latin-script languages apart needs a detector this repository does not
have, so that class stays open.

A swarm job lost every published port of the mail stack without anything
reporting it. dockerd aborted the whole ingress program:
Failed to add ingress: failed to program ingress ports:
failed to bind host port 0.0.0.0:995/tcp: address already in use
/proc/net/tcp named the squatter: 10.100.1.1:995 -> 10.100.1.11:2049,
the node's own NFS client. The mount carries no noresvport, so the
kernel drew a source port from the 665-1023 reserved window and landed
on pop3s. Afterwards none of 25/465/993/995/4190/8095 was bound while a
sibling service's port was, and stalwart still reported 1/1 healthy
because its healthcheck runs inside the container. The e2e CLI probe
found it two hours later as ECONNREFUSED on SMTP 25.
993 and 995 are the only published ports repository-wide inside that
window, so this is luck of the draw on any NFS-backed swarm host that
runs the mail role.
insecure on the kernel export is not separate hygiene, it is the other
half: kernel nfsd defaults to secure and answers a mount from an
unprivileged source port with EACCES, so noresvport without it would
break every kernel-flavor mount. It reaches the kernel flavor only,
since templates/exports.j2 is reached from tasks/flavor/kernel/main.yml
alone. The ganesha flavor needs nothing: ganesha.conf.j2 sets no
Privileged_Port and the default already accepts unprivileged clients.
What it costs: the next deploy of every existing NFS client sees a
pending opts change and remounts the shared state. The role already
anticipates that, releasing DIR_BACKUPS first when the check-mode probe
reports a change. Nothing bind-mounts that path into a container, so
the exposure is a host-side job holding it at that instant, which fails
loudly rather than silently.
Not yet proven in effect: a source port is chosen when the RPC
connection is established, so a plain remount can leave a running mount
on its old reserved port until the next real mount. Reading
/proc/net/tcp after the first deploy on an existing client is what
confirms it.

baudolo 7.1.x writes volume generations with `rsync -aHAX`, so the
producing host keeps `user.*` extended attributes (OpenCloud keeps its
storage metadata in `user.oc.*`). Every later copy dropped them again,
because none of the other rsync calls passed `-X` (nor `-A`/`-H`):
- NFS export snapshots (svc-bkp-nfs-2-local `script.sh`),
- the backup host's pull (svc-bkp-remote-2-local `pull_specific_host.py`),
- the device sync (svc-bkp-local-2-device `script.py`),
- every recover into a live target (`utils/recovery/base.py`, used by the
volume, NFS and device recover scripts),
- the `recover full` and `recover remote` tree pulls.
A disaster recovery through the documented chain therefore restored
OpenCloud without `user.oc.*`, silently: the copies succeeded and the
dirval stamp does not cover attributes.
All of these now run `rsync -aHAX` (`-aHAXP` for the device sync). A
target filesystem without xattr support makes rsync exit non-zero as soon
as a source file carries attributes, so the hop fails loudly instead of
dropping them; there is no per-device opt-out. The single-image pull in
`recover remote` keeps `-a`. The provider's ssh-wrapper needs no change:
its glob accepts any server flags and its character guard allows them.
Two tests write a `user.oc.id` attribute and assert it survives the NFS
snapshot and the recover; with the old `-a` both fail with
`OSError: [Errno 61] No data available`.

untranslated() is the one criterion that knows a catalog's script, and it
never fired. It returned False below LATIN_FLOOR = 6 words, while the
catalogs are mostly one- to four-word UI labels, so the guard sat above
its own corpus.
Measured across the 62 non-Latin catalogs: the floor condemns 0 entries.
Without it, 536, concentrated in the languages the model cannot write:
av 99 as 92 ba 87 be 84 ab 84 am 56 bh 13
Every entry in the low-count tail was read before the floor was removed,
because that tail is where a false positive would live. There is none:
ko 'Applications' -> a refusal sentence from the model
zh 'Updates & Package Mgmt' -> the string plus a version changelog
fa 'Cloud' -> 'Cloud' and a markdown rule
ab 'Communication' -> 'Comunicacion'
A word count was the wrong instrument. reason() consults this only after
an exact echo is ruled out, so for a non-Latin target, Latin text that
DIFFERS from the source cannot be a term the language keeps in English.
That distinction is what an earlier attempt at floor=2 lacked, which is
why it condemned 4053 entries including legitimate ones.
Scope, stated because the numbers invite a larger reading: this guards
the 62 non-Latin catalogs only. For the ~122 Latin-script languages a
wrong-language answer still passes, and catching those needs a detector
this repository does not have.
LATIN_FLOOR and its re-export are deleted rather than left at 1; nothing
else consumed them.
