Three violations in test files written earlier today, all surfaced by the first
full quality run rather than by the targeted checks I had been running.
test_addons_vendored_files built its finding list with append in a loop.
test_env_handlers_registered walked the tree with rglob, bypassing the shared
project cache the lint exists to protect on a 250+ role tree.
test_resolve read two keys that resolve.sh writes per matrix entry into
GITHUB_ENV, which can never be .env entries; the second key now derives from the
first so a single line carries the marker - and stays short enough that ruff
format leaves it on the line the lint inspects.

The deploy died in the drill's second pass on `wp plugin install activitypub
--activate`: the first pass had installed it, the DR restore put the tree back,
and wp-cli refuses to unpack onto an occupied directory. `--force` would have
made that green by overwriting whatever the restore produced - on a branch about
NFS-backed volumes, the worst possible place to paper over a restore. The probe
keeps it red instead: `wp plugin is-installed` answers from `get_plugins()`
alone (verified in the pinned wp-cli phar: `Fetchers\Plugin::get()` iterates
`get_plugins()` and nothing else), so a tree WordPress cannot parse still
reaches the install and still fails on folder_exists.
Activation moves into its own step. Chained to `install --activate`, wp-cli sets
chained_command and skips the result check, so an activation failure returns 0
today.
The same install path now serves both call sites; the addon hook carried its own
copy, which is why one defect needed fixing twice.
mu-plugins follow the declaration the way discourse already does. The loop reads
`mechanism: mu_plugin` from meta/addons/ instead of spelling two filenames, which
is how `infinito-http-ca-trust` shipped undeclared while `infinito-oidc-rbac-mapper`
carried a `required: true` that nothing evaluated. Both install paths honour that
field now - a required addon aborts the play, an optional one warns and is
skipped - which is the first place in the repo to read it.
Three guards, because the loop replaced two guaranteed literals: an assert that
every required addon is claimed by some install path, a lint pairing each
vendored addon with its shipped file in both directions, and the spec the addon
contract demands.

A role with a Model Context Protocol surface declares one mcp: entry in
meta/services.yml. The vocabulary module owns every allowed value, a hard
lint validates each declaration, and roles_with_service gains an opt-in
direction= kwarg so a client role resolves its servers at deploy time.
The lookup stays backwards compatible: without direction= the entries
keep their original four keys, so the existing dashboard, prometheus and
matomo callers are untouched. With it, each entry additionally carries
transport, auth, auth_subject and an endpoint dict whose port is
resolved from the referenced service's ports.local or ports.internal.
The lint rejects Jinja on MCP-specific fields (only enabled/shared may
carry it) because the static resolver cannot evaluate a templated block,
and it verifies that endpoint.service_key names a service in the same
file whose ports.* actually contain endpoint.port_key.

A scheduler (cron, clock, celery beat, a framework scheduler process) enqueues
recurring jobs; running more than one replica fires the same jobs each tick,
causing duplicate work, lock contention, and unique-index collisions (e.g.
GoodJob's (cron_key, cron_at)). On swarm the default replica count is
len(hosts), so a scheduler with no explicit replicas silently fans out one per
node. Worker services (sidekiq, worker) are excluded: they scale horizontally.
Add tests/lint/ansible/services/test_scheduler_single_replica.py to enforce
replicas: 1 on any service whose key ends in cron/scheduler/beat/clock, with a
nocheck opt-out. Fix the two offenders it found, moodle cron and zammad
scheduler, and justify openproject cron with the required single-replica nocheck.

The custom flag moves from 33 hardcoded template kwargs into the merged
service config: 'custom: true' names the shared <entity>_custom build,
a string names a second distinct '<string>_custom' image inside one app
(nextcloud whiteboard). The image lookup reads the declaration as a
fallback, so config consumers (e.g. backup image matching) resolve the
exact deployed reference from one declaration point. nextcloud cron now
runs the nextcloud_custom build like the app service instead of the
upstream image.
A new services lint couples the declaration to reality in both
directions: custom requires a role Dockerfile, and a role Dockerfile
requires a custom declaration. The eight legacy roles deploying local
builds under upstream tags or ad-hoc image= overrides are ratcheted via
'# nocheck: dockerfile-custom'.

Rename the meta/services.yml key across all roles, the roles_with_default_placement lookup (now roles_with_placement), the get_role_default_placement / iter_roles_with_default_placement helpers, and every consumer (swarm closure, compose_volumes filter, nfs_prep, container deploy template, constructor stage, extend_inventory) plus their tests and docs.

Resolve 69 conflicts across ~70 files: union main's image-version bumps and new service fields (bond, resource limits) with the swarm branch's default_placement / NFS / IS_STACK_HOST config; retire the three per-deploy-type test workflows main still edited (consolidated into compose+swarm); adopt main's run-once 01_core dispatchers while re-applying each role's swarm guard. Fix the post-merge lint surfaced by main's stricter rules: bond + resource-budget keys, container-exec stack-host gating + resolver routing, leaky/dead proxy vars, suitecrm once-flag, xwiki variant nocheck, nextcloud oversized-block to gated include, matrix-mdad capped at 3g. make autoformat clean, make test green.

Add tests/lint/ansible/services/test_variants_shared_false_once.py enforcing the one-local-provider-variant limit on services.<key>.shared: false pins, document the variants-shared-false-once suppression marker, and flip the database service (mariadb/postgres/redis) to shared: true across the erpnext, funkwhale, shopware, snipe-it, suitecrm, taiga, xwiki and zammad variants to comply.

Lint asserting that any addon whose activation is coupled to a service (services.*.enabled or 'in group_names') ships a tasks/addons/<id>.yml hook (exception logic or a documented no-exception comment).

Document the unified addon syntax (req-026) and drop the non-existent '# nocheck: playwright-addon-spec' escape hatch so the docs match the no-exemption lint. Exclude desktop desk-* roles from the per-addon Playwright spec requirement — they drive no web surface a spec could exercise — and harden the lint to FORBID spec files under desk-* roles; remove the 8 desk-chromium/desk-firefox/desk-gnome addon specs accordingly. Web-facing roles still require a spec per addon with no exemption.

Add tests/lint/ansible/services/test_addons_playwright_spec.py requiring roles/<role>/files/playwright/addons/<id>.spec.js for EVERY addon of EVERY role — no mechanism auto-exempt and no # nocheck escape. Ship the 87 per-addon specs (gated via skipUnlessAddonEnabled so they skip cleanly when the addon is disabled in the current variant), the test-e2e-playwright addon-gating harness (addon-gating.js, playwright.config.js, recursive 02_run_one.yml), the shared odoo helper, and the ADDON_<ID>_ENABLED flags in the six playwright.env.j2 templates. Relax test_env_file_schema to skip Jinja-templated keys in the ADDON loop. Doc updates (suppression.md, requirements/026) follow in a separate commit.

Add a meta/services.yml lint that flags any service carrying
default_placement: manager which is not paired with a per-line
`# nocheck: default-placement-manager` opt-out. Pinning to the manager
removes the worker pool from scheduling and defeats the benefit of
swarm: the service runs only on one node and worker capacity goes
unused.
Default policy: drop the line. Services should run anywhere so swarm
distributes them. Where additional capacity is needed, pair with
compose_replicas or deploy.mode: global instead.
Annotate the six legitimate exceptions with the required nocheck
marker and a short architectural justification above the line:
- svc-db-mariadb / svc-db-postgres / svc-db-openldap: central data
stores single-noded until replication is in scope
- svc-prx-openresty: edge TLS terminator at a known IP; the Lua
injection pipeline cannot ride the overlay yet
- svc-registry-cache / svc-registry-docker: registries that back
docker stack deploy itself; cannot run on a worker that still
needs to pull custom images from them

Adds `test_semver_pinning.py` under `tests/lint/ansible/services/`.
Recursively walks every `roles/*/meta/services.yml`, surfaces a
warning for every `image:`+`version:` pair and every `repository:`+`ref:`
pair whose value is not semver-compatible. Output via the shared
annotations helper (GitHub Actions `::warning::` plus pytest's
`warnings.warn`), with a single trailing suppression hint when any
finding fires. Never fails the test session.
Suppression reuses the existing markers:
- `# nocheck: docker-version` for `version:` pins
- `# nocheck: repository-version` for `ref:` pins
Both accept same-line or line-above placement. The existing external
update checks (`utils/update/docker.suppressed_services` and
`utils/update/repository.suppressed_ref_lines`) are loosened from
strict `line-above` to the default `same-or-above` for consistent
marker semantics across all three consumers.
Updates `docs/contributing/actions/testing/suppression.md` so the
catalog lists both consumers per marker and adds the previously
missing `repository-version` row.

Restructures tests/lint/ansible/ into five concern-keyed subdirectories
(jinja/, modules/, services/, shell/, sql/) plus the pre-existing roles/
and variables/. Each new subdir ships its own __init__.py exporting
PROJECT_ROOT and a scope-focused README.md following the project's
documentation conventions (RFC 2119 keywords, emoji-after-headline,
one-sentence-per-line, no historical context).
12 existing tests move into their concern bucket via git mv so history
follows the file. Adds tests/lint/ansible/variables/test_dotted_path_keys_exist.py
which catches the bug class where a Jinja dotted path's head resolves
via group_vars/all/ or the consuming role's own vars/defaults but a
deeper segment does not exist as a key in the dict tree (e.g. the
previous `LDAP.SERVER.REACH_DOMAIN` typo in web-app-odoo).
Touches three external references so cross-links keep resolving:
- docs/contributing/actions/testing/suppression.md (run-once, shared)
- roles/sys-svc-compose/tasks/utils/network/README.md (network-via-util)
- tests/lint/ansible/sql/test_no_inline_multiline_sql.py (self-path exclude)
