The extension installer returned as soon as an add-on was installed, in
whatever version. A new pin in meta/addons/ therefore reached a fresh wiki
only, and an existing wiki kept the version it was first deployed with.
The installer now skips an add-on only when the installed version equals
the pin. Otherwise it calls install(id, version, namespace), which the
Extension Manager resolves as an upgrade, and it reports an error when the
add-on is not on the pin afterwards.
The check that follows the installer compared presence only. It takes the
pin as well, so a deploy fails when an add-on is installed in another
version.

The credential was baked into the image: files/Dockerfile appended xwiki.superadminpassword to WEB-INF/xwiki.cfg from a build arg. The swarm matrix rotates it between passes, so the manager rebuilds the image with the new value, but 'docker stack deploy --resolve-image never' leaves the mutable tag untouched and a worker that already holds it never re-pulls. The task keeps serving the pre-rotation password and answers 401 to every authenticated call the deploy makes next, which is where both XWiki jobs of run 33445831564 died: 03_administrator.yml:7 and 04_extensions.yml:25, after 31 attempts each.
The entrypoint writes it at start instead, from the environment the role already renders into templates/env.j2 and that sys-svc-container/templates/base.yml.j2 attaches as env_file. Both copies of xwiki.cfg are written, because the stock entrypoint restores the data volume over WEB-INF on every start but the first; writing only WEB-INF would survive one boot and be reverted by the next. The keys are deleted and re-appended rather than substituted, so a generated password never reaches a sed replacement.
Read from xwiki/xwiki-docker at master to settle three assumptions: other_starts() does restore xwiki.cfg, the stock entrypoint never touches the superadmin keys, and CONTEXT_PATH defaults to ROOT. The delete pattern was exercised against all four key spellings xwiki_replace accepts, and a password carrying sed metacharacters was verified to arrive byte for byte.
Dropping the build arg also keeps the credential out of the image history.

xwiki was listed in requirement 036 as an unverified candidate. Probing the
running instance showed no AI or LLM extension in the extension repository
of the pinned lts-postgres-tomcat image, so there was no surface to point at
the gateway. Rather than excluding the role, wire the extension the same way
mediawiki wires AIEditingAssistant.
The declaration follows the nine existing consumers: a litellm service block
bound to 'svc-ai-litellm' in group_names, a sk_prefixed litellm_api_key, the
gateway pinned on variant 2 as 036 prescribes for three-variant roles, and an
integration hook that pulls the shared consumer contract.
meta/addons/ai-llm.yml feeds the existing installer: xwiki_enabled_install_items
turns enabled addons into the {id, version} list that the Groovy extension
installer consumes.
Two limits, deliberately not papered over. The maven coordinate
org.xwiki.contrib.llm:application-ai-llm-ui at 0.7 is not verified against
the upstream repository, so a wrong coordinate fails loudly on first deploy.
And the spec asserts the extension is installed and the gateway host stays
undotted, not that a prompt is answered: the extension's configuration model
has to be measured on a running container before that wiring can be written
without guessing. xwiki therefore does not yet satisfy criterion 6.
This role has never been deployed; only the gate has run.

Every script a role ships now lives under `files/<language>/`, and the unit
suite is split the same way: `tests/unit/python/` beside new sibling trees for
the other languages. `tests/lint/filesystem/test_role_files_layout.py` keeps it
that way; directories whose shape is dictated from outside carry a `.nocheck`
naming the constraint (Docker build contexts, WordPress mu-plugins, the Joomla
extension, Odoo addons, Playwright suites, the `files/test/test.sh` harness
that `test-e2e-cli` resolves generically).
This cannot be applied in halves. Moving a file and repointing what names it
are the same change: 14 references resolve only at deploy time, so the tree is
green either before or after, never between.
Those 14 were found by static resolution over every reference class, not by the
test suite -- a full `make quality-high` was green while all of them were
broken:
* 7 `src:` values built from a role variable holding a bare filename
(svc-bkp-remote-2-local, decidim, espocrm, friendica, joomla, pixelfed x2).
The variable doubles as the destination name inside the container, so the
language segment belongs at the call site, not in the variable.
* `sys-service/tasks/04_base.yml` resolved every consumer's systemd script
through `first_found(..., errors='strict')` over `files/script.{sh,py}`.
18 roles ship exactly that and have no template fallback: the play would
have died on each.
* `sys-front-inj-javascript` fell back to `<role>/files/javascript.js`; the
interface now reads `files/javascript/javascript.js`.
* `sys-front-inj-logout/templates/head_sub.j2` built the cache-busting mtime
path through `path_absolute(... 'files', ...)`.
* 4 `ansible.builtin.script:` invocations naming a bare command
(pull.py, prune.sh, set_postgres_superuser_password.sh, ganesha-serve.sh).
* `dev-python/files/shell/install.sh` pointed at a sibling role's script.
Depth-dependent paths inside the moved trees were bumped accordingly: 59
`parents[N]` computations, 12 relative climbs, and the per-role recover CLI,
whose path `cli/administration/recover/recoverers.py` still assembled from the
pre-move location.

3529 invalid comments in 528 files, grandfathered in while the linter
only saw the working-tree diff. Removal ran through the linter's own
collectors, so detection and deletion cannot drift: a comment whose
opener line is blank before it and whose closer line is blank after it
loses all its lines, anything else loses only the comment region, and a
line left holding a bare delimiter goes with it.
Five files keep their comments behind a nocheck marker instead. Four are
upstream configs whose inline docs are upstream's own (mautrix, systemd
journald, nextcloud-oidc-login, MediaWiki). In littlejs the
commented-out entries ARE the deactivation mechanism for an example
tile, so deleting them would delete configuration.

Sixteen role specs decided something immediately after an action that had not settled, because locator.isVisible() discards the timeout it is handed. Three shapes: an assertion that could never fire, a login outcome read off the DOM before the app re-rendered, and a branch that selected a locator by whether an iframe had mounted yet.
The ones that could never fire are the worst of them. taiga test-seaweedfs polled for a rejection toast right after saveAction.click(), so a real upload rejection was swallowed and misreported as a SeaweedFS storage failure; friendica ldapauth decided whether to run its wrong-password test at the instant a fresh context finished goto, so a slow render skipped a security check silently. wordpress test-discourse-roundtrip picked titleBox by whether the Gutenberg iframe had mounted and, when it had not, bound the wrong one and then burned the full budget failing with a misleading message.
Every conversion keeps the control flow: the .catch(() => false) fallback stays, so a waitFor that throws still yields the boolean the caller expects. Twenty of the twenty-two waits use base 2000, one 3000, one 5000. resolveTimeout multiplies by five on an onion target, so the common case is ten seconds there. Across thirteen onion traces the largest wait of any kind that ever succeeded was 790 ms, so ten seconds is a twelvefold margin; the bases started higher and were pulled down because a swallowed deadline is a duration in disguise - where the optional element is normally absent, the full timeout is paid on every run, including green ones.
Not exercised: no spec was run. Three of these make a test stricter, so a job that turns red on them is surfacing a real failure that was previously hidden, not regressing.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Playwright declares the timeout option on locator.isVisible() and isHidden() as deprecated and ignored: both return immediately and never wait. Passing resolveTimeout(10_000) to one therefore changes nothing at runtime and only tells the reader a wait happened that never did. That reading is what let 7538b8a0b conclude two genuine call sites were fine, and what hid the false negative b97cf8888 had to fix.
Sixty call sites across fifty-eight role-local specs lose the argument and nothing else. Every added line in this commit is a bare isVisible(); a grep for added lines that are not one returns zero, so a behaviour change cannot have entered here. Files whose diff also alters waiting semantics are deliberately not part of this commit.
A repository lint added in b97cf8888 keeps the construct out. It matches isVisible and isHidden only, because isChecked, isDisabled, isEditable and isEnabled take a real timeout.

Over Tor the redirect chain behind a login/logout/OIDC click routinely exceeds Playwright's fixed 30s action timeout, so the click throws before the flow's scaled waits run. Sweep all role Playwright suites and the shared persona helpers: give every navigation/auth-transition click an onion-scaled timeout (.click({ timeout: resolveTimeout(30_000) })) and route the remaining raw millisecond literals (timeout options, waitForTimeout, sleep-promise setTimeout, positional wait args) through resolveTimeout. Local UI clicks (menus, toggles, modal dismissals, DOM clicks inside evaluate) stay untouched.
Two new lints keep it that way: test_no_raw_timeout_literals forbids raw numeric timeout literals in Playwright specs (opt-out: nocheck: raw-timeout), test_persona_clicks_scaled requires every click in the shared persona auth flows to carry a resolveTimeout timeout (opt-out: nocheck: unscaled-click).
Verified: node --check on all 133 changed JS files, all 13 playwright lints green, make autoformat clean, make test green (2745+196+163+4 tests OK).

Every Ansible rescue: block used to carry ad-hoc per-role failure dumps that
drifted apart and captured different subsets. Replace them all with one
diagnostics script (scripts/system/diagnostics/rescue.sh) that snapshots
containers (full logs plus inspect per container), swarm services (ps plus
logs per service), journal, host resources, runtime info and stats into a
per-run folder and always exits 1 so the deploy still fails. A new lint
enforces the shape: every rescue ends with the script, at most one
nocheck-justified extra task before it (postgres pg_hba dump, xwiki
extension-repo probe), and a nocheck rescue-recovery exemption for the one
block that must genuinely recover: keycloak object updates, where a
cross-node reschedule needs a swarm-wide node re-resolve plus a delegate_to
change that only a rescue can express; its recovery is kept and now also
captures diagnostics before the terminal failure.
The snapshot folder path is a group_vars SPOT: DIR_RESCUE_DIAGNOSTICS and
DIR_VAR_LIB live in group_vars/all/05_paths.yml as plain strings; new env
handlers derive INFINITO_RESCUE_DIAGNOSTICS_DIR and INFINITO_DIR_VAR_LIB
from it for the generated .env, replacing the default.env entries, and the
play-level environment forwards the value to every task host so rescue.sh
needs no second default. CI uploads the folder like the inventory and
playwright artifacts: compose copies it out of the deploy container in
dedicated.sh, swarm captures per node (manager and both workers) into
node-named subfolders.
Deleting the ad-hoc dumps orphaned helper files (postgres inspect_container,
terminator docker_diagnostics, peertube diagnostics, matomo bootstrap debug,
xwiki and openresty rescue includes) and 14 role vars; all removed. Generic
pieces of those dumps (runtime version and info, stats, dmesg oom evidence,
swapon) moved into the SPOT script instead.

New lint test_no_raw_goto.py forbids raw `page.goto(...)` in role playwright specs + persona flows (the gotoOnion wrapper in personas/utils is exempt) so navigation retries transient Tor-transport errors over onion. Migrates every raw call across ~75 roles (343 sites) to `gotoOnion(page, ...)` and teaches gotoOnion to detect relative onion URLs (`isOnionCanonical`). gotoOnion is a behaviour-identical drop-in on clearnet (single attempt, same return). Verified: no-raw-goto lint green, eslint 0 errors, make test green.

Add the global TIMEOUT_FACTOR and a shared timeouts.js helper: resolveTimeout(base) scales by TIMEOUT_FACTOR and, over a .onion target, an extra multiplier, so Tor's per-request latency no longer trips hard-coded timeouts. Migrate every raw timeout in the specs (timeout:/timeout=/setTimeout/waitForTimeout) to resolveTimeout, stage the helper in all three staging paths, and add test_no_raw_timeouts to forbid raw numeric timeouts. Clearnet behaviour is unchanged (factor 1: resolveTimeout(N) === N).

HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) is an HTTPS-only header: a browser ignores it
over plain http (RFC 6797) and OpenResty only emits it on the TLS vhost. On an
onion node TLS is off and every domain is served over http, so the inline
`expect(headers["strict-transport-security"]).toBeTruthy()` in 33 specs failed
with `Received: undefined`.
Route all 33 through the shared expectHstsWhenTls(headers, baseUrl, label)
helper (personas/utils/tls.js), which requires HSTS over https and asserts its
absence over http. On a TLS node the base URL is https, so the assertion is
identical to before; on an onion node the same spec now passes. HSTS logic
lives in one place (SPOT) instead of 34 inline copies.

The stock xwiki entrypoint restores WEB-INF/xwiki.properties from the data volume and then rewrites it in place; mounting our rendered config read-only over WEB-INF (a swarm config object) makes that writeback fail with 'Read-only file system' and the service never converges. Add an entrypoint wrapper that copies the config (now mounted at /etc/infinito/xwiki.properties) into /usr/local/xwiki/data and lets the stock entrypoint own WEB-INF. Stage the wrapper into the compose build context the same way web-app-jenkins does. Validated in-container: config loaded, no read-only error, Tomcat starts. Compose is unaffected: the wrapper copies then execs the stock entrypoint.

Addon specs assert the integration is genuinely wired (admin config holds the partner value, host distinct from the app), not just that a page loads. Robust to the live DOM: strict-mode-safe locators (.first()), enabled-signal from the app's own panel (not the lazy apps list), and test.skip (not fail) when an app is disabled (NC-version-incompatible) or its partner role is absent/unconfigured.

Add tests/lint/ansible/services/test_addons_playwright_spec.py requiring roles/<role>/files/playwright/addons/<id>.spec.js for EVERY addon of EVERY role — no mechanism auto-exempt and no # nocheck escape. Ship the 87 per-addon specs (gated via skipUnlessAddonEnabled so they skip cleanly when the addon is disabled in the current variant), the test-e2e-playwright addon-gating harness (addon-gating.js, playwright.config.js, recursive 02_run_one.yml), the shared odoo helper, and the ADDON_<ID>_ENABLED flags in the six playwright.env.j2 templates. Relax test_env_file_schema to skip Jinja-templated keys in the ADDON loop. Doc updates (suppression.md, requirements/026) follow in a separate commit.

Six ``uri_retry`` tasks under ``roles/web-app-xwiki/tasks/`` carried
their XML payload as inline ``body: |`` blocks (CheckExtension Groovy
page, InstallExtensions Groovy page, the administrator user-page
PUT/POST pair, and the post-Fix-#8 XWikiAdminGroup PUT/POST pair).
Inline XML mixes Ansible YAML indentation with Jinja control flow
(``{% raw %}``-escaping for ``{{groovy}}`` delimiters), defeats
editor XML support, and silently rots when a future contributor
copy/edits the snippet without realising the surrounding ``body: |``
context.
Split by concern:
- ``templates/xml/*.xml.j2`` — six XML files that embed Jinja:
``user_page``, ``user_xwikiusers_object``,
``xwiki_admin_group_page``, ``xwiki_admin_group_member_object``,
``install_extensions_page``, ``main_webhome_page`` (the last one
was already a template; moved here for symmetry with the new five).
- ``files/xml/check_extension_page.xml`` — fully static; rewritten
without ``{% raw %}{{groovy}}{% endraw %}`` because the file is
served via ``lookup('file', …)`` (no Jinja pass), so ``{{groovy}}``
reaches XWiki literally.
Task references migrate to ``body: "{{ lookup('template',
'xml/<name>.xml.j2') }}"`` (or ``lookup('file', 'xml/<name>.xml')``
for the static case), normalising the previously bespoke long-form
``roles/web-app-xwiki/templates/main_webhome_page.xml.j2`` lookup in
the bargain.
SPOT-extract the magic string ``XWikiAdminGroup``:
- ``XWIKI_ADMIN_GROUP_PAGE: "XWikiAdminGroup"`` in vars/main.yml,
documented as the page-name part used by REST URLs, the
XAR-shipped page, the LDAP ``group_mapping`` argument, and the
OIDC ``groups.mapping`` argument.
- Five call sites updated to ``{{ XWIKI_ADMIN_GROUP_PAGE }}`` or
bare ``XWIKI_ADMIN_GROUP_PAGE`` inside list contexts:
``tasks/03_administrator.yml`` (×4 — two task names, the PUT URL,
the POST URL), ``templates/xml/xwiki_admin_group_page.xml.j2``,
``templates/compose.yml.j2`` (LDAP group_mapping), and
``templates/xwiki.properties.j2`` (OIDC groups.mapping, in a
commented example).
Lint guard: new ``tests/lint/ansible/tasks/test_no_inline_xml_body.py``
scans every ``roles/`` and ``tasks/`` YAML for ``body: |`` (or
``body: >``) folded scalars whose first content line starts with
``<`` and fails with a pointer at the matching ``templates/xml/...``
or ``files/xml/...`` alternative. JSON / shell / SQL bodies stay
allowed. Per-task opt-out: ``# nocheck: inline-xml-body`` on the
``body:`` line or the line above. Five unit tests cover the
scanner: matches XML body, ignores JSON body, honours same-line
nocheck, honours line-above nocheck, repo-wide sweep clean after
this refactor.
XWiki v17.10.8 distribution-merge behaviour was cross-checked
against upstream (``AbstractXarEntryType.upgradeType =
THREEWAYS``); the empty ``<member/>`` placeholder in the
XAR-shipped ``XWikiAdminGroup`` cannot overwrite our explicitly-added
member (different GUID / number).
``make test`` green across all 5 targets.

Promote four cheap rules in `eslint.config.js`:
* `no-unused-vars`: warn → error (with `argsIgnorePattern: "^_"`)
* `no-var`: error
* `eqeqeq`: error (always)
* `playwright/no-wait-for-navigation`: off → error
* `linterOptions.reportUnusedDisableDirectives`: off → warn
Add a repo-root CommonJS block so `eslint.config.js` itself sees Node
globals (`require`, `module`).
Fix every flagged offender:
* 138 stale persona-helper imports across 70 spec files
(`isServiceEnabled`, `skipUnlessServiceEnabled`, `runAdminFlow`,
... — leftovers from the SPOT consolidation).
* 4 unused catch bindings → modern `catch {}` syntax.
* 2 unused `dashboardBaseUrl` declarations (minio, moodle).
* 1 unused `label` arg → renamed to `_label` to opt out per the
argsIgnorePattern.
* 1 intentionally-kept legacy helper in web-app-wordpress's spec
receives a per-line `eslint-disable-next-line` with reason; the
preceding docstring already explained why it stays.
* 1 `page.waitForNavigation` in web-app-fediwall's Mastodon OIDC flow
receives a per-line disable with reason — the navigation target
depends on the runtime OIDC issuer; `waitForURL` would need a
runtime-built pattern.
* 10 stale `// eslint-disable-next-line no-console` directives now
surfaced by `reportUnusedDisableDirectives`; removed.
ESLint after this pass: 0 errors, 154 warnings (148 pre-existing
`playwright/expect-expect` plus 6 `playwright/no-force-option` that
were already inherited from `playwright/flat/recommended`).

Strip every `req <NNN>`, `req-<NNN>`, `Requirement <NNN>`,
`requirement-<NNN>`, and `docs/requirements/<NNN>-...md` mention from
non-Markdown source files. Comments anchored to requirement numbers
rot when requirements are renumbered or rewritten and conflate
present-state behaviour (which the comment should describe) with the
audit trail of how the code got there (which belongs in commit
messages, PR descriptions, and the requirement file itself).
* Document the rule in `docs/contributing/documentation.md` under
"Comments". Code MUST describe the *why* in present-state language;
contract enforcement lives in tests, not folklore.
* Clean 254 source files across `roles/`, `tests/`, `plugins/`,
`cli/`, `scripts/`, `utils/`, `group_vars/`, and the repo-root
`eslint.config.js`. Pure comment / docstring / log-message edits;
no behavioural change.
* Add `tests/lint/repository/test_no_req_references_in_code.py` to
enforce the rule going forward across `.js`, `.py`, `.yml`,
`.yaml`, `.j2`, and `.sh` files. The legacy
`test_no_stale_requirement_refs.py` is exempt as the only file
whose purpose is to detect these very tokens.

Both helpers were inlined verbatim in 71 of the role-local
`playwright.spec.js` files (52 with the compact form, 19 with the
verbose form, plus one parameter-name variant). All bodies were
semantically identical.
Changes
-------
- New `roles/test-e2e-playwright/files/personas/utils/dotenv.js` holds
the canonical pair (`decodeDotenvQuotedValue` and `normalizeBaseUrl`),
re-exported through `personas/utils/index.js` so specs that
`require("./personas")` get them via the existing aggregator.
- Every role spec drops its inline copies and pulls the helpers from
`./personas` instead. Specs that only reference one of the two
carry only that one in the destructuring (no unused-import noise).
Doc
---
`docs/contributing/artefact/files/role/playwright.specs.js.md` no
longer carries the "once a third spec needs them, MUST be promoted"
directive: the helpers live at the shared path and inline copies are
forbidden.
Verification
------------
- 419 passed / 1 skipped / 0 failed across `tests/lint/`,
`tests/integration/roles/`, `tests/unit/plugins/lookup/`.
- `make lint-javascript`: 0 errors, 283 warnings (unchanged from
baseline; no new unused-imports introduced).
- 0 inline `function decodeDotenvQuotedValue|normalizeBaseUrl`
definitions remain in any role spec.

Make `tests/lint/.../test_has_spec.py` raise instead of warn when a
roles/web-app-* role has no `files/playwright.spec.js`, then ship the
27 minimal specs needed to satisfy the new floor.
Each new spec follows `roles/web-app-mig` (TLS + canonical-domain
baseline, HTML content-type, three persona flows) with role-specific
admin-interaction labels seeded from app domain knowledge. The bodies
are intentionally static — `templates/playwright.env.j2` is not
shipped per role yet, so the specs do not run end-to-end on deploy;
detail tightening per role is follow-up work.
Also fix `_body_contains_stub_marker` in `test_no_stub_tests.py`: it
substring-matched `TODO` against `body.upper()`, which flagged
`masTODOn` inside the mastodon spec's body regex. Switched to
word-boundary matching so genuine `// TODO:` markers still trip the
lint while embedded substrings in app names or regex alternations do
not.

Add tests/lint/repository/test_inline_script_block_size.py: scans
roles/, tasks/, playbooks/ and .github/ YAML for literal block scalars
(`|` / `|-` / `|+`) following the keys `shell`, `command`, `script`,
`raw` (Ansible) and `run` (GitHub Actions). Counts logical lines —
trailing-`\` continuations collapse to one line, blank lines are
ignored — and fails when a block exceeds 12.
FOLDED scalars (`>` / `>-` / `>+`) are exempt: they are one shell
statement after YAML folding, even if they span many source lines for
readability.
The walk goes through `utils.cache.files.iter_project_files(...)` per
`docs/agents/action/testing.md` so the shared project-tree cache is
reused across the lint suite.
The fail message tells the author exactly how to fix: Ansible tasks
get the built-in `script:` module (collapses the task to one line);
GitHub Actions workflows extract into `scripts/github/<name>.sh` and
call it via `run: bash scripts/github/<name>.sh` (or
`_helpers/scripts/github/<name>.sh` when the workflow checks out the
repo into `_helpers/`).
Extract the pre-existing literal-block offenders so the new lint
ships green:

- Added 'plugins' section in config/main.yml to declare enabled extensions in a structured way
- Introduced new static file 'files/extension_installer_b64.groovy' that decodes Base64 JSON of requested plugins
- Simplified 04_extensions.yml: now builds installer code from static file and removed hardcoded OIDC/LDAP checks
- Dropped redundant XWIKI_EXT_* variables in vars/main.yml
- Added XWIKI_PLUGINS fact to collect enabled plugin items from config/main.yml
This refactor makes extension installation more generic, easier to unit test, and extendable beyond OIDC/LDAP.
