The context_agent ExApp calls back into the same php-fpm pool it is being
proxied from: its UserAuthMiddleware resolves the bearer against
/ocs/v2.php/cloud/user while a child is already parked forwarding the MCP
request out to the ExApp. Every in-flight MCP request therefore occupies TWO
children. Below twice mcp.limits.concurrent_requests the two legs deadlock, and
because the ExApp's callback carries no timeout the pool never recovers -- which
is why the Context Agent sat unhealthy rather than merely slow.
services.nextcloud.performance.php.fpm now sizes the pool explicitly:
max_children 16, start_servers 4, min/max spare 4/8. request_terminate_timeout
is 900s and must not drop below the proxy's fastcgi_read_timeout; lower kills a
child while nginx is still waiting on it, equal means only work nginx has
already abandoned gets reclaimed.
The readiness path was spending the same scarce workers. /healthz/ready had no
location of its own, so it fell through to `location /`, was rewritten to
/index.php/healthz/ready and booted a full Nextcloud request on a php-fpm child
once per probe interval against a pool of five. It is an exact-match location
returning 200 from nginx now, with access_log off, and never reaches PHP.
The pool file is rendered through render_replicated_templates.yml so swarm peers
receive it too, and mounted from meta/volumes.yml at a path that sorts after
zz-docker.conf, which reopens the [www] section last -- mount it earlier and the
image's own values win while the deploy looks correct.
The context_agent healthcheck moves from a hand-written probe in compose.yml.j2
to the shared container_healthcheck lookup, declared as flavor curl on path
heartbeat with start_period 20m. The ExApp installs dependencies on first boot
and legitimately outlives a 60s start period, which is the other half of why it
reported unhealthy.
Not verified: none of this has deployed. max_children 16 is derived from twice
concurrent_requests rather than measured against real memory use, and the
mount-ordering requirement is read from the image layout rather than confirmed
against a merged pool config in a running container -- if it sorts wrong the
whole change is inert while appearing correct. request_terminate_timeout 900s
also means a genuinely stuck request now holds a child for fifteen minutes.

The php-fpm listener port lived as a literal 9000 in the nginx sidecar
config, and the application user as a literal www-data in both
healthchecks, while the role already carried NEXTCLOUD_DOCKER_USER and
declares every other internal port in meta/services.yml.
Declare the listener as services.nextcloud.ports.internal.fpm and read
it through the config lookup, the same shape the moodle and magento
roles use for their fpm listeners and the same shape this role already
uses for the signaling and recording ports. That also satisfies the
port lint, which requires every *_PORT constant in a role's vars to
resolve through the lookup rather than carry a literal.
The rendered output is unchanged: the port is still 9000 and the user
is still www-data. After this change no www-data literal remains in the
role's code; the occurrences under docs/ stay as they are, since those
are copy-paste operator recipes.

The internal proxy declared a static upstream to nextcloud:9000, which
nginx resolves at config-parse time and treats as fatal (exit 1) on
NXDOMAIN. In swarm the nextcloud service name only appears once a task
passes its healthcheck, and the NFS-backed first-run init held the lock
~25s, so every proxy task that started in that window crashed with
'host not found in upstream', swarmkit's recent-failure penalty pinned
all replacements onto the manager, and the worker-placement gate failed.
Drop the static upstream and resolve nextcloud:9000 through a variable
(set $php_handler; fastcgi_pass $php_handler) using the http-level
resolver already emitted, mirroring the whiteboard/talk runtime
resolution in the same file: nginx now starts and returns 502 until the
app is healthy instead of crash-looping, so replicas keep their worker
placement. Validated with nginx -t.

Drop trap/warning from the exception markers; lint .j2 by stripping the suffix to the underlying language plus Jinja {# #} comments; add a head-level '# nocheck: comments-valid' opt-out via is_suppressed_in_head, documented in suppression.md; strip narration comments from friendica/nextcloud templates and opt the vendored discourse app.yml out with the new marker.

Per-app nginx gateways used proxy_pass with a literal docker container
hostname. nginx OSS resolves that hostname once at startup; if the
upstream container later restarts and gets a new IP (e.g. a partial
compose-up after credential change), the gateway proxies onto a dead
address until nginx itself reloads — the 502 we hit on taiga after a
reuse-kept replaced the taiga-back container.
Switch every per-app docker-hostname proxy_pass to a variable form so
the embedded docker DNS re-resolves at request time:
set $upstream_<rolename>_<purpose> http://<host>:<port>;
proxy_pass $upstream_<rolename>_<purpose>;
The full `resolver` directive (TTL + ipv6 toggle inherited from
NETWORK_IPV6_ENABLED) lives in one SPOT — NETWORK_DOCKER_DNS_NGINX_DIRECTIVE
in group_vars/all/08_networks.yml — so cache TTL and ipv6 stay
consistent across the stack.
In taiga the upstream `set` declarations hoist to server scope because
taiga-back is reused across /api/, /oidc/ and /admin/; in nextcloud
and kix each upstream is used exactly once so the declaration stays
local. Locations whose original proxy_pass stripped the location
prefix (`proxy_pass http://.../;` on /media/, /whiteboard/,
/standalone-signaling/) keep that semantics via an explicit
`rewrite ^<loc>(.*)$ /\$1 break;`, because variable-proxy_pass drops
the implicit prefix-strip.
kix's static files/kix-proxy.default.conf moves to
templates/kix-proxy.default.conf.j2 so it can reference the new
constant; the deploy task switches from copy to template accordingly.
Drive-by: scripts/tests/e2e/rerun-spec.sh docstring refresh — the
"only overwrites tests/playwright.spec.js" claim went stale when the
rerunner started restaging every role-local playwright/*.js.

Browser vendors deprecated X-Frame-Options/X-XSS-Protection/X-Download-Options/
X-Permitted-Cross-Domain-Policies; CSP (rendered from each role's
meta/server.yml via build_csp_header) is the modern replacement. To make the
SPOT actually win against upstream apps (e.g. Keycloak/Quarkus still emits
X-Frame-Options), the proxy now hides those headers on every location type.
Includes a fail-loud lint that catches any future add_header / Header set/add
re-introduction in .conf / .conf.j2 / .htaccess / .j2 / .jinja / .tmpl files.
- sys-svc-proxy: new upstream_strips.conf.j2 partial bundles HSTS + the 4
deprecated header strips; included in html/media/ws/upload + web-svc-logout
+ web-app-oauth2-proxy locations (nginx array-replacement inheritance forces
per-location placement)
- web-app-keycloak: meta/server.yml frame-ancestors allows the primary-domain
wildcard with the dynamic TLS protocol so dashboard silent-check-sso iframe
loads cleanly
- web-app-dashboard/playwright: drop isOidcSilentCheckNoise — root cause is
now fixed, no noise filter needed
- web-app-dashboard/nginx + web-app-nextcloud/nginx: remove the deprecated
add_header lines themselves
- tests + docs: new lint registers `deprecated-http-header` suppression rule

- Apply documentation.md rules across staged files (emojis after headlines, RFC 2119 keywords, correct link text, Credits format)
- Remove expired ChatGPT share URLs from 39+ role READMEs and templates
- Remove orphaned text after link deletion: bare # @see, {# @see #}, Discussion: #}, empty Chat Conversation sections, dangling "Conversation is here available.", "Refer to the conversation with ChatGPT ()", "See ChatGPT Conversation", "ChatGPT Session Transcript" references
- Remove empty ## Further Resources and ## Credits sections where no links remain
- Fix URL reachability test: treat 401/403/405 as ok, 429/500/503 as warn, Timeout as warn; add # nocheck: url suppression (inline and line-above)
- Add lint test for broken relative and repo-root-absolute markdown links
- Add # nocheck: url to AUR git clone URLs, CSP allowlist entries, and other non-browser URLs
- Restore docs.infinito.nexus/setup in documentation.md MUST NOT example
- Fix Mobilizon geospatial endpoints (Addok, Photon) reverted to original values with # nocheck: url
- Add integration test rule: MUST NOT write unit tests for integration test logic

The TLS lookup has been renamed from `tls_resolve` to `tls` to better
reflect its responsibility as a strict TLS state resolver.
This refactor updates all usages across the codebase, including:
- lookup plugins and internal helpers
- roles, vars, tasks, and templates
- tests, stubs, and error messages
- documentation and changelog references
Behavior, lookup API, and semantics remain unchanged.

- Remove deprecated filter_plugins/tls.py and all dependent filters
- Introduce strict lookup plugin lookup_plugins/tls_resolve.py as single TLS authority
- Migrate all roles, templates, vars, and tasks to use tls_resolve (protocols, ports, URLs, cert paths)
- Enforce explicit TLS context (domains, applications, TLS_ENABLED, TLS_MODE)
- Support letsencrypt and self_signed with SAN handling and per-app overrides
- Update TLS provider roles to assert resolver state instead of setting facts
- Add comprehensive unit tests for tls_resolve lookup
https://chatgpt.com/share/6972b49b-b074-800f-a323-dd9fe69d02eb
with explicit per-application TLS resolution.
Key changes:
- Introduce sys-front-tls-layer as the single TLS abstraction
- Centralize certificate paths via TLS_CERT_FILE / TLS_KEY_FILE / TLS_CA_FILE
- Replace sys-svc-letsencrypt SSL templates with generic TLS layer includes
- Add tls_* Jinja filters (enabled, mode, protocol, port, websocket)
- Resolve TLS mode per application (letsencrypt | self_signed | off)
- Remove implicit defaults and WEB_* globals to fail fast on misconfiguration
- Support self-signed certificates with SAN awareness
- Make TLS behavior explicit and consistent across all roles
This decouples application logic from certificate providers and
allows switching TLS flavor without touching app roles.

- Add optional HTTP-only mode for Mastodon deployments
- Inject override initializer to hard-disable force_ssl and ActionDispatch::SSL
- Mount override into Mastodon and Sidekiq containers
- Prevent automatic compose flush before migrations
- Apply overrides before setup phase
Also:
- Remove unconditional HSTS header from ws_generic proxy vhost
- Make OIDC optional for CI (docker-in-docker)
- Fix env.j2 quoting and formatting
- Gate HSTS in Nextcloud behind TLS_ENABLED

Ensure /var/www/html/config is created and owned by www-data before running occ
and appending dynamic configuration. This prevents install failures caused by
root-owned Docker volumes.
Also:
- fail fast if occ status does not report a successful installation
- align nginx root with NEXTCLOUD_DOCKER_WORK_DIRECTORY
Fixes: "Cannot write into config directory" and missing config.php on fresh volumes

Unify reverse proxy handling across apps via sys-stk-front-proxy and cleanly separate internal docker nginx configs from external vhosts.
Changes:
- docker-compose: use with_first_found for optional env and docker-compose.override files so roles can provide either a template or a static file without noisy 'Could not find or access' failures.
- sys-stk-front-proxy: remove front_proxy_domain_conf_src and switch nginx vhost rendering to with_first_found over app-specific proxy.conf.j2 and the generic roles/sys-svc-proxy vhost flavour; keep health-check and handler logic unchanged.
- web-app-nextcloud: migrate to sys-stk-full-stateful (front proxy + DB + docker), move internal nginx config to docker.conf.j2 under the volume path, and rename host.conf.j2 to proxy.conf.j2 for the external vhost.
- web-app-magento: rename nginx.conf.j2 to docker.conf.j2 and update the runtime template task accordingly to make the intent (internal nginx) explicit.
- web-app-matrix: rename nginx.conf.j2 to synapse.conf.j2 and adjust the webserver task to use the new template name for the synapse vhost.
- web-app-bridgy-fed & web-app-flowise: pass domain and http_port explicitly when including sys-stk-front-proxy so the front stack has all required context.
- web-svc-cdn/file/html: replace direct sys-stk-front-base + sys-util-csp-cert + nginx.conf.j2 handling with sys-stk-front-proxy and proxy.conf.j2, relying on the shared front-stack for TLS/CSP/vHost wiring.
- web-svc-collabora: drop the direct nginx.conf.j2 vhost generation and rename it to proxy.conf.j2 so it is picked up by sys-stk-front-proxy like other services.
- web-opt-rdr-domains: rename redirect.domain.nginx.conf.j2 to redirect-domain.conf.j2 and adjust the task for clearer and more consistent naming.
