- Administration.md: the createAccount example reads PDS_ADMIN_PASSWORD
from the PDS container before calling curl and unsets it afterwards.
The operator shell had no value, so curl sent empty Basic Auth
credentials.
- _appview.js: restorePreferences clears its deadline timer once the
race settles, so a Playwright worker no longer stays alive until the
45 s timer fires.

PDS 0.4.0 (@atproto/pds 0.4.0-beta.7) signs the service-auth JWT it
attaches to proxied app.bsky.* calls with iss, aud and exp only
(createServiceJwt in dist/index.js of the image). The AppView requires
the lxm claim and rejects every such call with 401
BadJwtLexiconMethod, so social-app shows errorMessageView on Following
and Notifications. 0.4.66 passes the called method as lxm into every
service JWT it signs and sends every proxied call through the
SSRF-guarded proxy agent.
0.4.66 also replaces the whole-handle limit of 0.4.0 (30 characters
for the entire handle) with a limit of 18 on the part in front of the
service domain, so kc-administrator.<domain> passes for any domain
length, including kc-administrator.infinito.nexus (31).
- meta/services.yml: pin ghcr.io/bluesky-social/pds to 0.4.66.
- vars/main.yml: the public AppView URL is always https. Onion-primary
deployments took the protocol from the local TLS setting and sent the
service JWT to api.bsky.app over plain http. services.view.enabled is
evaluated as a bool.
- templates/env.j2: drop PDS_ADMIN_EMAIL, which neither 0.4.0 nor
0.4.66 reads. PDS_CONTACT_EMAIL_ADDRESS stays unset on purpose:
describeServer would publish the administrator's address.
- Administration.md: the account database only migrates forward; a
rollback restores the bluesky_pds_data backup together with the old
pin.
- Playwright: the broker login moves into _shared.js and waits for a
landing outside /oauth2/, because the bare base URL also matches the
intermediate /oauth2/callback hop. New scenarios check that the PDS
proxies getTimeline and listNotifications to the AppView with a JWT
it accepts, for the broker session (OIDC) and for a native session
(oauth2 disabled), and that social-app renders Following and
Notifications without errorMessageView or lxm page errors. The
rendering scenario is clearnet only: social-app boots only after
loading its age-assurance config from public.api.bsky.app.
Merge note for feature/store-i18n: 19b491b014 raises the pin to 0.4.21
and renames the contact-mail line to PDS_CONTACT_EMAIL_ADDRESS. Resolve
the pin to 0.4.66 (0.4.21 still signs without lxm, and the account
database cannot migrate back) and keep the line deleted. Take the union
of both sides in _shared.js and playwright.spec.js.

Every script a role ships now lives under `files/<language>/`, and the unit
suite is split the same way: `tests/unit/python/` beside new sibling trees for
the other languages. `tests/lint/filesystem/test_role_files_layout.py` keeps it
that way; directories whose shape is dictated from outside carry a `.nocheck`
naming the constraint (Docker build contexts, WordPress mu-plugins, the Joomla
extension, Odoo addons, Playwright suites, the `files/test/test.sh` harness
that `test-e2e-cli` resolves generically).
This cannot be applied in halves. Moving a file and repointing what names it
are the same change: 14 references resolve only at deploy time, so the tree is
green either before or after, never between.
Those 14 were found by static resolution over every reference class, not by the
test suite -- a full `make quality-high` was green while all of them were
broken:
* 7 `src:` values built from a role variable holding a bare filename
(svc-bkp-remote-2-local, decidim, espocrm, friendica, joomla, pixelfed x2).
The variable doubles as the destination name inside the container, so the
language segment belongs at the call site, not in the variable.
* `sys-service/tasks/04_base.yml` resolved every consumer's systemd script
through `first_found(..., errors='strict')` over `files/script.{sh,py}`.
18 roles ship exactly that and have no template fallback: the play would
have died on each.
* `sys-front-inj-javascript` fell back to `<role>/files/javascript.js`; the
interface now reads `files/javascript/javascript.js`.
* `sys-front-inj-logout/templates/head_sub.j2` built the cache-busting mtime
path through `path_absolute(... 'files', ...)`.
* 4 `ansible.builtin.script:` invocations naming a bare command
(pull.py, prune.sh, set_postgres_superuser_password.sh, ganesha-serve.sh).
* `dev-python/files/shell/install.sh` pointed at a sibling role's script.
Depth-dependent paths inside the moved trees were bumped accordingly: 59
`parents[N]` computations, 12 relative climbs, and the per-role recover CLI,
whose path `cli/administration/recover/recoverers.py` still assembled from the
pre-move location.

New lint test_no_raw_goto.py forbids raw `page.goto(...)` in role playwright specs + persona flows (the gotoOnion wrapper in personas/utils is exempt) so navigation retries transient Tor-transport errors over onion. Migrates every raw call across ~75 roles (343 sites) to `gotoOnion(page, ...)` and teaches gotoOnion to detect relative onion URLs (`isOnionCanonical`). gotoOnion is a behaviour-identical drop-in on clearnet (single attempt, same return). Verified: no-raw-goto lint green, eslint 0 errors, make test green.

Add the global TIMEOUT_FACTOR and a shared timeouts.js helper: resolveTimeout(base) scales by TIMEOUT_FACTOR and, over a .onion target, an extra multiplier, so Tor's per-request latency no longer trips hard-coded timeouts. Migrate every raw timeout in the specs (timeout:/timeout=/setTimeout/waitForTimeout) to resolveTimeout, stage the helper in all three staging paths, and add test_no_raw_timeouts to forbid raw numeric timeouts. Clearnet behaviour is unchanged (factor 1: resolveTimeout(N) === N).

akaunting, flowise, bluesky, opentalk and seaweedfs do not natively consume LDAP — their auth is OIDC / Keycloak-federated, so the LDAP deploy variant tested nothing app-specific. Set services.ldap.enabled/shared to false, remove the dedicated LDAP matrix variant plus the ldap: entries from the remaining variants, and drop the now-redundant LDAP playwright tests (akaunting/flowise test-ldap-login.js, bluesky test-ldap-broker-handoff.js). Matches the joomla/mattermost (enabled:false) and baserow (removed) precedent. opencloud is intentionally left untouched (LDAP is its real directory backend).
akaunting additionally bundles an unrelated seaweedfs object-store consumer change (test-seaweedfs.js, S3 env block, SEAWEEDFS_* flags) from concurrent work in the same role dir.
Verified against the staged tree: full lint suite passes (141 tests, 235 subtests), all meta YAML valid, node --check clean on the 3 modified specs.

Implements docs/requirements/021-sso-flavor-migration.md atomically:
* Schema: every role's meta/services.yml replaces the parallel
`oauth2:` / `oidc:` top-level blocks with a single `sso:` block
carrying `enabled`, `shared`, and a `flavor` discriminator
(`oidc` | `oauth2` | `saml`; default `oidc`). Flavor-specific
sub-keys live under `sso.<flavor>.*` (`sso.oauth2.{origin,acl,
allowed_groups}`, `sso.oidc.plugin`).
* Provider role: roles/web-app-oauth2-proxy/ is deleted in its
entirety; its 5 sidecar templates move under
roles/web-app-keycloak/templates/sso_proxy/, and the per-consumer
rendering task lives at roles/web-app-keycloak/tasks/sso_proxy.yml.
web-app-keycloak now declares `provides: sso`.
* Runtime: new resolver utils/roles/applications/services/sso.py
centralises the SSO predicates (`is_enabled`, `is_proxy_gated`,
`is_oidc_native`) and the oauth2 sub-values
(`oauth2_origin_{host,port}`, `oauth2_acl`, `oauth2_allowed_groups`).
Three lookup plugins consume the resolver: `sso` (single-app
predicate access), `sso_proxy_consumers` (enumerates oauth2-flavored
consumers), `sso_oidc_plugin` (renamed from `oidc_flavor`, Nextcloud
plugin selector). sys-stk-backend, sys-svc-compose, sys-svc-proxy
and plugins/filter/compose_volumes.py all gate on
`lookup('sso', ..., 'is_proxy_gated')` instead of manually combining
`enabled` and `flavor`.
* Identifier renames repo-wide: `services.<entity>.ports.local.oauth2`
→ `ports.local.sso`; `PORT_BANDS.local.oauth2` → `PORT_BANDS.local.sso`;
`OAUTH2_PROXY_*` env/Jinja vars → `SSO_PROXY_*`;
`oauth2_proxy_cookie_secret` → `sso_proxy_cookie_secret`;
`OAUTH2_SERVICE_ENABLED` + `OIDC_SERVICE_ENABLED` collapse into
`SSO_SERVICE_ENABLED`; Playwright gating helpers
(isServiceEnabled/skipUnlessServiceEnabled/requireService/safeIsEnabled/
safeSkipUnlessEnabled) move from `oidc`/`oauth2` to `sso`.
* Dual-block resolution: per req's Background-Table, web-app-bookwyrm
is `flavor: oauth2`; web-app-gitea and web-app-friendica keep
`flavor: oauth2` with their existing `oauth2.acl.blacklist`
(/user/login) and `oauth2.acl.whitelist` (federation + discovery
endpoints) — preserving the operative oauth2-proxy gating.
* Tests: the two mutual-exclusion guards
(tests/integration/iam/oauth2_oidc/test_mutual_exclusive.py and
test_acl_mutual_exclusive.py) are deleted per Decision #10;
test_oauth2_contract.py is renamed and rewritten to
test_sso_contract.py, asserting that `flavor: oauth2` roles carry
`oauth2.origin.{host,port}` plus `ports.local.sso`; test_sso.py
(web-app integration) now requires the unified `sso:` block with an
explicit flavor or a `# nocheck: sso` opt-out; new
tests/lint/repository/no_legacy_sso_paths/ guards the source tree
against re-introducing the legacy strings.
* Docs: req 21 itself has every AC checked off, and reqs 006, 008,
009, 013, 015, 016, 019, 020 plus 10+ role READMEs and
docs/contributing/actions/testing/suppression.md are updated to the
unified SSO naming.
Empirically validated end-to-end against the validation app set
(web-app-keycloak, web-app-nextcloud, web-app-bookwyrm, web-app-gitea,
web-app-friendica, web-app-dashboard) in matrix variants 0 and 1; v2
also passes the 4 target roles' Playwright after a documented
pre-existing KC_HOSTNAME-drift workaround (separate concern, not
caused by this refactor).
BREAKING CHANGE: every consumer of `services.oauth2.*`,
`services.oidc.*`, `OAUTH2_PROXY_*`, `OAUTH2_SERVICE_ENABLED`,
`OIDC_SERVICE_ENABLED`, `oauth2_proxy_cookie_secret`,
`oauth2_proxy_application_id`, `ports.local.oauth2`, the
`web-app-oauth2-proxy` role, or the legacy gating helper service names
(`oidc`/`oauth2`) must migrate to the unified `sso` shape documented
in docs/requirements/021-sso-flavor-migration.md.

The LDAP scenario asserts the oauth2-proxy → Keycloak (LDAP-federated)
handoff, which only renders a Keycloak login form when both `ldap` and
`oidc` services are deployed. Gating solely on `ldap` made the spec run
under the LDAP-only variant (oidc=false, oauth2=false), where
`performKeycloakLoginForm` then 60-s-timed-out because no redirect to
Keycloak ever fires. Skipping when oidc is off keeps the scenario as a
combined-mode smoke test and stops the false fail on LDAP-only deploys.
Bridge the architectural gap that left bluesky without any usable login
path when services.oauth2.enabled is false. The login-broker stays the
upstream when OIDC is on (broker auto-provisions PDS accounts via the
encrypted-app-password handoff). When OIDC is off, the broker is bypassed
and the stock social-app is served directly; the PDS administrator is
provisioned by Ansible so the operator can sign in with handle+password.
Routing (tasks/01_core.yml):
- Front-proxy http_port now picks `BLUESKY_BROKER_PORT` when
services.oauth2.enabled is true, `BLUESKY_WEB_PORT` (social-app)
otherwise. Previously the broker was always upstream, so variant-1
deploys returned a `Refusing handoff` 401 on every request.
PDS provisioning (tasks/07_native_admin.yml, new):
- uri_retry waits on PDS `/xrpc/_health`, then POSTs createAccount with
`kc-administrator.<handle-domain>` (PDS rejects bare `administrator`
as a reserved handle, hence the `kc-` prefix the broker already uses
for OIDC-derived accounts).
- Idempotent: 200 = changed, 400 with "Handle already taken" = ok.
- Gated on `BLUESKY_WEB_ENABLED and not services.oauth2.enabled`.
Broker hardening (files/login-broker/server.js):
- 401 response (missing `X-Forwarded-User`) now `text/html` instead of
`text/plain`. Headless Chromium does not fire `DOMContentLoaded`
reliably on non-HTML 401 documents — Playwright `page.goto(...,
{ waitUntil: "domcontentloaded" })` hung the full 60s test timeout in
the variant-1 guest-persona test.
Playwright spec (files/playwright/):
- Split single-file playwright.spec.js (203 lines) into _shared.js +
seven test-*.js modules following the matrix/taiga/nextcloud/pixelfed
pattern. Each scenario is now individually grep-able from the
reporter output.
- Add test-native-admin.js: verifies broker bypass (landing body
contains `<title>Bluesky</title>`, NOT `Refusing handoff`) plus PDS
createSession returns 200 + accessJwt for the deployed admin handle.
Uses Playwright's APIRequestContext directly — driving the stock
social-app login UI (hosting-provider switcher + welcome modal +
React form state) was too brittle.
Vars + env (vars/main.yml, templates/playwright.env.j2):
- `BLUESKY_ADMIN_HANDLE` and `BLUESKY_PDS_INTERNAL_URL` added for the
Ansible task.
- `ADMIN_HANDLE` and `PDS_BASE_URL` exposed to Playwright env.
Verification:
- Variant 1 (live, in-container): 3 passed, 4 skipped, 0 failed.
- Variant 0 / Variant 2: spec bodies unchanged from pre-refactor,
Ansible conditional invariant on the OIDC-on branch — but not
re-deployed for live verification.
