categories.yml now declares modes defaults per category (deepest match wins, parents apply as fallback): update, drv and svc-net disable compose and swarm (host-hardware and host-networking categories), svc-registry requires both enabled (CI bootstrap infrastructure). role_modes_defaults resolves a role's policy; the new category-modes lint requires every deploy-bearing service entry to declare exactly those modes.<mode>.enabled values explicitly, exempt via '# nocheck: category-modes' on the service key. update, the four drv roles and the three wireguard roles declare their values explicitly; the dict-valued modes meta key is excluded from the category-tree walkers.

Host lane for invokable non-stack roles (drivers, backup, wireguard, swapfile, ...). modes.host.enabled declared on 56 such roles; new lint test_role_host_mode enforces it. The complexity matrix gains a host column (not stack and modes.host.enabled), --deploy-mode host, and host bundles (one per variant); apps.sh accepts INFINITO_DEPLOY_MODE=host and filters host == true. New test-deploy-host.yml workflow (INFINITO_MAX_JOBS=10) deploys discovered host roles via the mode-agnostic ci/all.sh path, wired into ci-orchestrator (modes default 'swarm compose host').
Also: complexity -s/--symbol compact view (emoji-only headers, true/false as check/cross, lifecycle stage symbols, grouped legend with per-entry explanations, display-width aligned); stack column moved after host. scripts/meta/env/load.sh made zsh-compatible by delegating to bash and importing INFINITO_/PYTHON/VENV/PATH back.

* scripts/lint/autoformat.sh:
- rename run_sort_claude_settings worker to run_claude (matches the
renamed scripts/lint/claude.sh).
- drop the EXIT trap that wiped status_dir; cleanup happens explicitly
after `wait` returns, so a parallel worker that interrupts the
parent never races a vanished status dir.
- each worker now captures its tool's exit code and writes one of
OK / SKIP / FAIL. Tolerated `expected violations remain`-style exits
(markdownlint-cli2 rc≤1, ansible-lint rc≤2) still count as OK; only
real failures count as FAIL.
- all workers run to completion regardless of individual tool failures
(so the user always sees the full picture); after the summary, the
script exits 1 if any worker reported FAIL.
* scripts/lint/sort_claude_settings.sh -> scripts/lint/claude.sh
(history preserved via git mv); update test_claude_settings_sorted.py
fix-hint accordingly.
Plus working-tree drift across roles/, group_vars/, inventories/,
requirements/, and .pre-commit-config.yaml accumulated from the
make-test setup phase regenerating generated artefacts during recent
test runs.

Cover all five default CI distributions (Archlinux, Debian, Ubuntu,
Fedora, CentOS) from a single role. tasks/main.yml dispatches via
ansible_facts['distribution'] to one of three task files grouped by
package-manager family — Debian and Ubuntu both use apt, Fedora and
CentOS both use dnf, so each pair shares a single file:
| distribution | task file | module |
|---------------------|------------------|----------------------------|
| Archlinux | arch.yml | community.general.pacman |
| Debian / Ubuntu | debian.yml | ansible.builtin.apt |
| Fedora / CentOS | fedora.yml | ansible.builtin.dnf |
| other | unsupported.yml | ansible.builtin.fail w/msg |
The dispatcher is wrapped in `when: run_once_update is not defined`
and finishes by calling tasks/utils/once/flag.yml so subsequent
invocations within one play are no-ops.
Migration impact: only one external caller exists
(tasks/stages/01_constructor.yml line 143, "update device") and is
migrated to the new name. The auto-generated tasks/groups/update-roles.yml
(prefix-matched on `update-*`) becomes empty; it had no consumers.
Closes the GHA universal-deploy `update-apt on arch` failure path,
since update-apt no longer exists as a standalone role and the new
dispatcher routes Arch to pacman.
