Two of them lived inside docs/ next to the pages they render, which is why both had grown a __file__ upward walk to find the repository root, a sys.path insert to import from utils, and a nocheck for each. A generator parked among documents reads as documentation and drops out of the checks that apply to code.
Moving them surfaced six real violations that the old location had hidden: yaml.safe_load instead of the shared cache, two uncached read_text calls, five hard-coded role paths instead of ROLE_FILE_META_SERVICES and ROLE_FILE_META_MCP, two make targets without an alias, and a requirement reference in code. All six are fixed at the root, none with a suppression, and both generators lose their project-root exemptions because a package supplies PROJECT_ROOT.
cli/build/readme joins them so the three generators that write into docs/ sit together. A new lint keeps docs/ to .md, .html, .rst and .nocheck; it enumerates through git ls-files so untracked __pycache__ is not its business. Checked against HEAD, it names exactly the three .py files that moved.
026-unified-addon-syntax stated that the matrix generator stays under docs/requirements/. The lint makes that impossible, so the requirement now records where the generator actually lives.
Verified: every one of the twelve modules under the new tree imports, no old module path survives anywhere in the repository, 482 lint tests and 1246 cli unit tests pass, and both generators run without drift.

1f870b1e5 left two marks the layout rules reject. friendica's utils/ held
patch_config.yml beside patch_db_credentials.yml, which is a shared
delimiter-bounded prefix, and its numbered files ran 00, 01, 02, 04, 05 with
nothing at 03 after the config patch moved out of the sequence.
The prefix becomes the folder it was standing in for, the way 8e8dbbd08c did it
for the AI files. All four roles move, not only the one the lint could see: the
path post_deploy.yml resolves a role's declaration through has to read the same
everywhere, so a folder in one role and a prefix in the other three would be no
domain at all.
utils/patch_db_credentials.yml -> utils/patch/db_credentials.yml (4 roles)
utils/patch_config.yml -> utils/patch/config.yml (friendica)
The numbers close up behind the file that left: 04_addons and 05_user_bootstrap
become 03 and 04.
Four references follow: the include in 01_manager_ops.yml, the lookup in
post_deploy.yml, the caller path in the unit test that reads each role's
declaration, and a requirement doc that linked the old addon file.

meta/schema.yml became meta/secrets.yml, but its content still landed at
applications.<app>.credentials — the one meta file whose payload did not sit
under a root named after the file. Every other topic obeys that rule:
meta/volumes.yml goes to volumes, meta/rbac.yml to rbac. Credentials now go to
secrets.credentials.
The path exists exactly once, in utils/manager/credential_key.py, and
OVERRIDE_SECTION is derived from its two segments rather than spelled beside
them, so the dotted form used by --set and the nested form used by the
inventory cannot drift. Six consumers read it: the loader, the generator, the
CLI override parser, the two emit helpers, and the four lookup validators.
--set now accepts exactly one key shape,
applications.<app>.secrets.credentials.<key>. The three short forms are
rejected instead of guessed at: the same short key names different credentials
on different apps. That also retired primary_app_id, which only existed to
disambiguate them.
Three defects surfaced while wiring this up. _apply_one_role_schema still wrote
to the old root, so an app's own credentials would have moved while its
providers' stayed behind. web-app-pgadmin reads through
lookup('applications', ...).credentials.<key>, an access path no regex over
lookup('config', ...) could see, and would have deployed with an empty postgres
password. And _META_NON_GENERIC_TOPICS still listed 'schema' — a bare topic
name, invisible to any path search — so the generic file-root loop assigned the
raw schema under secrets and the follow-up write landed inside the cached
document, truncating keycloak's four credentials to one for every later
reader.
tests/integration/ansible/lookups/config/test_credentials_roundtrip.py pins both
directions of the seam and the cache invariant that last defect broke.
Existing inventories still carry the pre-rename root; migrating them is
deliberately out of scope here.

meta/schema.yml held credential definitions and their runtime values, but the
name said 'schema' and read like structural metadata next to services.yml and
volumes.yml. Nothing in the file is a schema in the sense the other meta files
use the word, and a contributor had to open it to learn it holds secrets.
62 role files renamed. ROLE_FILE_META_SCHEMA becomes ROLE_FILE_META_SECRETS and
keeps its role as the SPOT the path is built from.
Two readers bypassed that constant and spelled the name themselves:
utils/cache/applications.py built meta_dir / 'schema.yml' twice, and
plugins/lookup/application_gid.py carries the filename in the marker list it
detects application roles by. Left behind, the rename would not have raised —
credentials would have resolved empty and the role would have stopped counting
as an application.

Add tests/lint/repository/test_task_file_numbering.py: numbered task
files use exactly two leading digits, a numbered *_core.yml must be
00_core.yml, per directory the numbers are unique/consecutive and start
at 01 (00 with a core file), numbered includes appear in ascending
order, and shared helpers live in tasks/utils/ instead of the numbered
chain.
Apply it across every role: rename NN_core.yml to 00_core.yml with a
consecutive down-shift of the siblings, move letter-suffix children into
a subdirectory named after their parent task, relocate helpers included
from more than one place into tasks/utils/, and update every reference
(include_tasks, path_absolute, .ansible-lint-ignore, requirement docs).
Legacy narration comments in the touched files are deleted; the upstream
xwiki.properties reference block opts out via nocheck. The unused
MAILU_IP6_PUBLIC var (only ever named in now-removed comments) is dropped.

Legacy mautrix-python facebook/instagram bridges are EOL and fail at runtime (appservice bot masquerade 403). Replace both with the bridgev2 mautrix-meta addon: config, schema credential, variant-2 wiring, and a profile spec with a positive @metabot probe plus an un-bridged-MXID negative control.
playwright.env.j2 now emits MAUTRIX_<bridge>_ADDON_ENABLED only for bridges that are actually deployed, so each bridge spec runs iff its bridge is up (closes the skip-as-green gap) and is telegram-drop aware.
Verified: compose variant-2 deploy failed=0; @metabot registers on the live Synapse; bridge suite green (meta/signal/whatsapp/slack), telegram skips (no API creds).

Document the unified addon syntax (req-026) and drop the non-existent '# nocheck: playwright-addon-spec' escape hatch so the docs match the no-exemption lint. Exclude desktop desk-* roles from the per-addon Playwright spec requirement — they drive no web surface a spec could exercise — and harden the lint to FORBID spec files under desk-* roles; remove the 8 desk-chromium/desk-firefox/desk-gnome addon specs accordingly. Web-facing roles still require a spec per addon with no exemption.

Renumber the addon-syntax requirement 028 -> 026 (trio: 025-mcp -> 026-unified-addon
-> 027-integration-matrix) and bake in the agreed decisions:
- enablement: deliberately-wired integrations auto-enable with their partner
(enabled derives from services.<target>.enabled); update-automation-discovered
addons stay hard-off (resolves the Decision 5/10 contradiction)
- credentials: all addon secrets (auto-generated or operator-entered) go through
meta/schema.yml credentials; no opt-in exception
- scope: full backlog (every check-cell wired + exhaustive per-role survey), phased
- matrix: generator to be refactored to pass repo lints + generated-artifact marker
- only bridging addons add a <target>: service block; plain addons add none
- config secret-lint heuristic; integration-pair Playwright co-deploy variant
- 025 collision left out of scope
Companion-link refs in the matrix generator + regenerated matrix updated to 026.
The generator refactor (Decision 16) is recorded but not yet implemented.

feature/mcp's 026-integration-matrix and 026-unified-addon-syntax collided with
main's numbering on merge. Renumber both and fix every cross-reference:
- 026-integration-matrix.{md,gen.py} -> 027-integration-matrix.{md,gen.py}
- 026-unified-addon-syntax.md -> 028-unified-addon-syntax.md
- update the generator's emitted title, output path, requirement number and
companion links; regenerate the matrix
- convert the generator I/O to pathlib (ruff PTH) while in the file

Add the generated role×role integration matrix (026-integration-matrix.md
+ generator) and expand 026 with: required-gated install-failure handling,
mechanism=bridge for network bridges, addon variant/matrix axis, and the
matrix-backed cross-role integration backlog. The matrix scans every role's
meta/services.yml for infinito-native wired edges (☑️) and overlays curated,
web-verified upstream plugin edges (✅/🪙): 511 wired + 96 upstream across 82
roles. Header repeats every 10 rows and columns for readability.

Promote per-app addon/plugin/extension/module/bridge declarations to a
single file-rooted meta/addons.yml contract: unified schema, explicit
cross-role bridge rule, required-gated install-failure handling (hard
fail vs warn+skip), addon state as a variants.yml matrix axis, network
bridges (Matrix mautrix) as mechanism=bridge addons, external drift
monitoring, and a Playwright test per user-facing addon. Audit expanded
to matrix, discourse, pretix, mattermost, desk-chromium/firefox/gnome;
mobilizon/bookwyrm DB extensions classified out of scope.
